Continuity mistake: While he is copulating with Laurence, François Monge receives a phone call from his boss about the murder case in Bobigny. To shush his vocal partner, he gives her a slap on the shoulder, but he does it with the right hand in the view from behind, and the left hand in the full frontal. (00:08:55)
Continuity mistake: There are numerous instances (plenty even within the first fifteen minutes) wherein a character's hair changes from messy or strands hanging down or out to fairly neatly combed - far too many to point out at a particular time in the movie without being tedious and redundant (plus, this isn't necessary to be valid). For example, Mr Anderson's hair changes within a few seconds. There was a wad of hair sticking out on his left side, then it was neatly combed on the left side but the right side was disheveled. Patrick's hair, which is almost always messy, still has noticeable variations (such as dangling strands on one side or in his part) within seconds and/or when the camera changes position. Charlie's hair, in particular his bangs, frequently has gaps that are no longer present the next time he is seen. Given the number of hair continuity errors, they are best documented as one repeated mistake. (00:07:04)
Continuity mistake: George's son is disappointed because his dad missed the ball game and tells him that he should have been there. Meanwhile Denise Richards approaches the cooking pot with her spoon in her right hand and the plate in her left. Close-up on her telling Howie that dad was busy, and spoon and plate switched hands. Continuity mistake: Alexandre Lagarde puts his fork into the plate of the attractive client, much to the scorn of her husband. The morsel in close-up and the one she actually puts in her mouth are different. (00:06:10)
Continuity mistake: When Eddie Murphy's assistant makes assumptions about why Jack isn't speaking, he throws his notepad down and has empty hands as Jack pushes him out of the office. When the angle changes, he has a notepad in his right hand.
Continuity mistake: The position of Beth's truck facing her motel room (106 or 706?) changes during the time she is talking to Holly. Sometimes the truck is closer to the room next to hers (105 or 705) and to where Beth is standing. Also, the truck's front tires are different distances from the curb. (00:48:25)
Continuity mistake: The objects on the desk at Lax's interview with Herman change several times. Sometimes, the tripod is closer to the center of the desk, about a foot away from the file folder, but other times it is closer to where Lax is sitting and one leg is almost touching the folder. The angle of the file folder and distance to the edge of the desk also varies. The Styrofoam cup switches from one side of the desk to the other. (00:17:07 - 00:18:20)
Continuity mistake: When Carter is in the interview room with Allen he looks at the clock and it reads 09.30am after Regan releases him Regan goes to the Sweeney office and sits at his desk, Carter looks at his watch and it says 09.00. (00:54:10 - 00:58:30)
Continuity mistake: In the scene near the end of the movie where Ellen Miller asks Robert Miller to lift up his shirt, and then slaps him in the stomach with a newspaper, we see that his right shoulder suspender is properly positioned, however in the next shot from behind him his suspender over his right shoulder appears to be twisted 180 degrees. As he turns to walk into the inner bedroom the suspender is once again back to a proper fit.
Continuity mistake: In the parking garage scene, when Lindsay initially parks the sign states "Reserved For Walter Deeds." When being towed his name on the sign disappears. (00:06:30 - 00:10:45)
Continuity mistake: The first time they go to the beach together, Alain is sleeping while Stephanie is swimming. When she wakes him up with her potent whistling, he has his hand on his belly that touches the bathing shorts'upper band in the first shot, but the hand is in a different position above his bellybutton in the wider angle. Continuity mistake: When Jeremy and the cop girl are shooting for practice, the amount of cans changes between shots.
Continuity mistake: The German and British airmen are looking at the Northern lights. From the rear the men are apart, but the front shots of them show them much closer to each other.
Continuity mistake: Dinner at Forestier's home, and Georges Duroy does not know which knife to use to eat. The asparagi in his plate are across the small pie in the wide shot, and in close-up they are arranged entirely on the side without his intervention. (00:08:20)
