Character mistake: Two police officers went to the Davenport's house because someone "requested a drive-by in the middle of the night." The veteran cop rang the doorbell, knocked on the door, heard noise (dismissed as "probably a pet"), and even yelled, "Rise and shine, people." He told the rookie cop that he was "trying to go the extra mile to make sure these folks are okay" and "Somebody called in a drive-by and I want to see their smiling faces." Factual error: When Luke puts the starting cables on the battery of the pick-up truck sparks fly from the connection. However since he hasn't connected the cables to anything on the other end yet no sparks should be visible. Next to that the battery is nearly dead so there is no power to give the sparks in the first place.
Other mistake: Given that Cassandra's parents are so incredibly rich, spoil her rotten, buy her anything, and have even got her a luxury apartment, why on earth is she flying to the USA in economy class?
Other mistake: When the three main characters see the composite sketches of themselves on the news, Chris Hemsworth says "Oh shit" in his natural Australian accent.
Visible crew/equipment: In Africa, after checking into the hotel, Wilson slides the curtains out of the way. As the camera pans to the right, you can see the reflection of the cameraman by the (bathroom?) doorway on the window's glass.
Other mistake: In the bathroom scene where bullies were beating up Jarod, David Valentine "finished" by making the hardest direct blow to Jarod's left cheek near his eye. Afterwards, there was no visible injury to Jarod's left cheek; the injury was on Jarod's right cheek. (00:34:54)
Continuity mistake: Throughout the motorcycle/police car chase they used two different motorcycles made 50+ years apart and just painted them both black. One is a 1940s Harley Davidson with a springer front end and the very recognizable horn below the headlight, and the other is a late 1990s (at the oldest) cruiser with a front end that's completely different in every way.
Deliberate mistake: The (fake) confession letter was postmarked from Ohio and sent to Allison Connor, 331 Henry Lane in Hilliard, MB 21243. No U.S. state has a postal abbreviation of "MB." The way the "B" was written in thick bold letters made it resemble a "D" - "MD" represents Maryland (where the film apparently takes place). Also, there is no current 21243 zip code in the U.S. There is a 21241 for Baltimore City and the next consecutive zip code is 21244 in Baltimore County. The created address LOOKS real. (00:50:44)
