Factual error: The slave ship the pirates overtake in the beginning is flying the tricolor flag of modern France, which was not adopted until the revolution in 1789. Blackbeard is set in 1717.
Factual error: Jenna calls her dad with the result of her sonogram, and reveals the sex of the fetus. But given the timing of the movie, we know that Jenna is between 10 and 12 weeks - gender can't be determined from a sonogram until at least 20 weeks.
Visible crew/equipment: When Dieter steals the rifles from the hut and approaches the other prisoners before their attack on the kitchen, a crew member (wearing a cap) can be seen moving from the right of the screen to the left with a camera or some other equipment. (01:19:35)
Deliberate mistake: When the armored car hit's the police car the police car flies up in an explosion. Due to the size, style, and weight of the armored car, the police car should've been run over and crushed. (01:02:05)
Other mistake: In the scene when Hector Lavoe and his wife (Mark Anthony and JLo) are walking down the street in New York, on the right hand of the screen you will see a man taking a picture with his cell phone. The scene is supposed to be based in the 70's.
Continuity mistake: When the monster puts down Hanso after she tries to escape, you can see her footwear is completely dirty, but in the next shot where the monster's tail uncoils itself from her body, you can now see the pink and white of her footwear that you couldn't see before.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Effie sings "Curtis, this time Effie's gonna win", Curtis turns his head a little to his left when Effie sings "win" at his face. But at the next shot, camera behind Curtis, Curtis' head is slightly turned to his right. (01:52:35)
Continuity mistake: When the Prime Minister is preparing to make his golf swing, his shawl is alternately bunched up and then spread out smoothly.
Plot hole: The Death Note that Misa brings to L headquarters is supposed to be fake, but when Light touches it he can see the Shinigami Ryuk.
Suggested correction: Light saw Ryuk after he tried writing a name down in the piece of the notebook hidden in his watch. Since he touched that piece, it makes perfect sense he would see Ryuk as that piece was originally part of Ryuk's death note and wasn't swapped by L.
Continuity mistake: When Gabe is tied up in the chair, under his left eye we see a cut change to a scar and back several times.
Revealing mistake: Jesus is born without an umbilical cord.
Continuity mistake: When we see Tully dead for the second time, the dirt patterned on his face is different from the pattern seen previously in the film.
Continuity mistake: When Mr. Dulaine forces Rock and LaRhette to dance the waltz together, he takes off his necktie and blindfolds LaRhette with it. Throughout the scene the blindfold is different nearly every time the camera angle changes - the "tail" created by the wide end of the tie gets longer and shorter, the knot alternately loosens and tightens and moves from side to side across the back of her head, and the whole thing slides up and down her nose. It's so distracting I spent the whole scene watching to see how it was going to move next.
Factual error: During the movie the Germans are more then once using halftracks of the type sonderkraftfahrzeug 251, which originally were only allowed to be used by panzerdivisionen (armored divisions), and at the moment the movie is supposed to take place, there were no panzerdivisionen in Holland.
Factual error: When the Empress is dressing for the Chrysanthemum festival, bobby pins and hair pins are visible in her hair, not made available until the 20th century.
Factual error: To demonstrate his hatred of the England football team, Paul throws darts at a photograph of the players in their red shirts midway through the competition. However, the photo in question was taken after the final was played. Furthermore, in relation to the film's timescale, when the scene takes place neither the team or the choice of kit had been decided upon.
Factual error: Ron Clark was from Aurora North Carolina. The shot where he is leaving for New York is supposed to be in Aurora, which is in Eastern North Carolina. The shot shows a house with lots of spruce trees around it. We don't have those in Eastern North Carolina.
Continuity mistake: Close to the beginning of the film, when Rachael and Brian are speaking at the desk where Rachael has been typing, between shots, a pencil appears next to her watch. This change happens right before Rachael says "I couldn't have done any of this without you".
Continuity mistake: When John C. Reilly is in the dressing room telling the airplane story, the time changes back and forth on the clock behind him.
Continuity mistake: After Shah Rukh scores the winning goal, he runs towards the edge of the field with his t-shirt covering his face, during the aerial shot, one can see him wearing another white t-shirt below, but in the close up, the white t-shirt is missing.
