Character mistake: Right before Madison shoots the 2 police officers they show a close-up of the gun in its holster. The holster is unbuttoned. No police officer would leave his gun holster unbuttoned, especially while sitting next to a felon.
Character mistake: At the very beginning of the film, when Hannibal Lecter is serving dinner to his guests, one diner asks "what is this divine looking amuse-bouche" when she and the other guests have a full plate of food. An amuse-bouche is a single bite of food meant to be served at the beginning of a meal, not a plate full of food. Lecter's guests would be better educated.
Character mistake: After crashing their car into the bar the Tender Trio attempt to flee on foot but Clipper twists his ankle. Goose says "Goose f***ed up his ankle" accidentally referring to himself but obviously it's Clipper that twisted his ankle. (00:14:59)
Character mistake: Carl, carrying his gun, goes up the outside staircase before entering Frank's apartment. When he encounters the frightened cleaning woman, he flashes his F.B.I. badge at her to identify himself. However, he only shows her the back of the black I.D. wallet, which has no markings on it.
Character mistake: Throughout the whole movie Bell is left-handed taking tests, throwing baseballs, and everything that he does. As an adult he's right-handed.
Character mistake: When Ben and Stephanie are studying, she repeats the stages of mitosis (which should be prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase, with minor differences in the way textbooks divide them) out order; anaphase, metaphase, interphase, prophase. She is supposed to be an A student and Ben, who is also smart and reading from the notes and textbook, says she is right. (00:18:55)
Character mistake: Although great care was taken to duplicate Bob Crane's distinctive hairstyle for Greg Kinnear, Bob Crane's hair was actually parted on the left. The makeup department for this film parted Greg Kinnear's hair on the right, producing a mirror-image of Bob Crane's hairstyle.
Character mistake: After Edmond changes his identity to become the Count of Monte Cristo, he is addressed several times as "Your Grace." "Your Grace" is a term of address used when addressing dukes and duchesses. He should have been addressed as "Your Excellency", which is the address given to counts and countesses.
Character mistake: When Slim is at Mitch's other house, she opens the box to cut the phone wires. This isn't necessary because the wires are coming out of the bottom, so there's no need to open the box.
