Revealing mistake: When Hobbes is searching for information about Milano, he types his search into the webcrawler search engine and it takes him straight to the front page of the newspaper that is reporting on the events he is searching for. With the search terms he used there is no way he would get that result. You may argue that all the boring bits of websearching were cut, but for his second search he goes back to the web search instead of the newspaper's own search to get the next year's article. Revealing mistake: During the scene in which the small group of GIs, led by the young go-getter officer played by John Cusack, attack the Japanese hilltop bunkers, they seemed to be equipped with magic bullets. The American soldiers are firing wildly in all directions but seem to drop an enemy soldier with every shot. In some shots, the GI's rifles are not pointing even near where the Japanese soldiers are but the latter obligingly fall dead nonetheless.
Revealing mistake: The scene where Jackie takes Anna for a night ride in the snow is special for several reasons: Even though it's the first snow of the year and no earlier scene made the impression that it is particularly cold, they come by a lake that's half covered with ice. Both don't wear gloves (horse riders usually wear gloves even in summer!), and, in spite of the cold night, their breath doesn't make any clouds. (01:20:35)
Revealing mistake: After Whale compliments Clayton for the marvellous shape of his head, Clayton pulls faces at himself in the side mirror of his pick-up before he drives off. Considering that the camera is positioned at hip level and we see his face in the mirror he couldn't actually see himself. (00:24:40)
Revealing mistake: Just before Jake is checked into the Surf Hotel, there is a long scrolling shot following the car and shows where Jake's room will be. In particular, there is the Kennedy Fried Chicken sign with one window above 'Chick' and one above the 'K'. After checking into the hotel and the guards leave, we see Jake outside of his window. This shot involves a recreation of the original location because the two windows are now above the 'nnedy' and 'en'. Furthermore, the lights surrounding the sign have changed (some are burnt out or missing, and they don't flash at the same time interval).
Revealing mistake: As a very young Otis Williams listens to The Cadillacs on stage in Detroit, the joint is rockin' with the music, but most of The Cadillacs have no microphones.
Revealing mistake: When Eddie Murphy is strolling by the sets, he applies some kind of electroshocks on a woman, which distorts her face enormously (especially her eyes and mouth), which is obviously achieved by CGI. When the shot changes to the inside of the control room, watch the TV screens and you'll see that the woman is only making silly faces, the rest looks normal because they've forgotten to apply the CGI.
Revealing mistake: One of the very last clips of the movie - one showing the barricade with a lot of flags - runs backwards. You can tell from the way the flags wave.
Revealing mistake: When the two women first enter the sheriff's station there is a dead deputy on the floor with a Beretta 92 in his right hand. There are two mistakes in this scene. First, he supposedly died firing the gun, but the hammer is decocked which has to be done manually. Second, one of the shots shows three spent cartridges on the ground. The shells have brass crimping opened on the front. Real shells have no need for a crimp because of the lead bullet. It is obvious that they fired three blanks out of the gun and used those shells in the shot.
Revealing mistake: In the scene on the freeway when the semi is sliding sideweays, if you look at the back wheels of the trailer, you can see the wheels making it track straight.
Revealing mistake: When Todd is hitting the metal punchbag the first time, during the slow mo part you can see it flex as if it is made of rubber.
