Question: Would Cadets Woliger and Fox have actually been able to attend a military academy, considering that Woliger has heart problems and Fox is deaf?
Question: When Sarah and Becky wake up in the morning and the table is covered in food and they have new slippers etc, how did those items get in their room?
Question: The credits and IMDb claim that clips from the movies The Premature Burial (1962) and Mutiny on the Bounty (1962) are used in the film. Where are these clips?
Answer: A clip from Mutiny on the Bounty is used in the ship scene. I believe it's on deck before Renfield and Dracula are seen. The premature burial is the scene when Lucy's coffin is being carried on the moors.
Question: Where did the bad guys get the cigarettes, paper, beer, gasoline, and water. All of the guys said they've never seen land, so how did they get this stuff?
Answer: Sealed stuff floats. They gather stuff just like the mariner.
Answer: Well the Black Death cigarettes and the smeat cans were both sealed items so they theoretically were waterproof. The gasoline was refined from oil which was leftover in the Exxon Valdez and the water was purified from sources? Just like how the mariner purifies his pee. I mean if you can believe he can purify his pee on the trimaran then I'm sure the crew of the Valdez is capable of purification.
Answer: These points have been brought up ever since this movie came out. I guess you have to suspend a lot of disbelief!
Question: What happened to the one Native American that Governor Ratcliffe shot? I know he went back to the village for treatment but what happened to him afterwards? Did he die?
Answer: This is a question the movie chose not to answer. It could be assumed he died as the Powhatans did not have the knowledge to treat gunshot wounds. However, there were cases even as far back as this time of individuals being able to survive gunshot wounds as long as the bleeding could be stopped and infection didn't spread. As the Powhatans did know herbs in the land to treat infections and did know how to mend bleeding; it is also possible he lived though he would have walked with a limp for the rest of his life.
Question: I have looked all over the web for the wav of the sound Goofy makes whenever he is falling, which he does at least once in every cartoon he is in. It sounds like 'yah-ha-ha-hooey.' I have never found it, so can someone point me to where I might be able to download it?
Answer: Took about 1 minute to Google this: http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/7451/sounds.html.
Question: I have two questions: 1) At the beginning of the movie, when Buscemi tells the story about the mariachi in this one bar in Saragossa, Tavo (the one Mexican that is later in the movie killed on the street by the mariachi) says something in Spanish, and all start laughing - does anybody know what he says? 2)When the mariachi prepares to go to the Tarasco-Bar, in his bathroom, what song is played?
Answer: Tito Larriva as Tavo says (in reference to Steve Buscemi) that "This guy smells like shit." The name of the song being played is "Manifold de Amour" by Latin Playboys.
Question: What happens to the real Derek bond, his old friend? He is not seen at the party at the end or even seen again after the hostage.
Answer: Presumably he went back to his home and practice. Gary seemed to like Derek much more anyway.
Question: In the end credits, there are seven stuntmen listed, b ut I can only think of four. Can you please tell me what all of the stunts are?.
Answer: Reshooting certain scenes would most likely necessitate new stunt people, as the first one(s) would most likely be hard to get back.
Question: When Simms tells the 3 thugs they are dead, he screams at them "This ain't no funeral home. It ain't the terra dome neither." What is the terra dome? When I look it up online I only find a mention of an underground home, but I don't see what that has to do with Satan and Hell.
Chosen answer: The word he says is "terror dome". He is just referencing a Public Enemy song, "Welcome to the Terrordome".
Question: There is a scene partway through the movie when Marianne is playing and singing, the first time Colonel Brandon sees her. What song is she singing, and where can I find music for it?
Answer: The lyrics come from a poem called "Weep You No More, Sad Fountains" - it was set to music specifically for the film by Patrick Doyle. There is sheet music available for this piece here: http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/selections-from-sense-and-sensibility-sheet-music/2923004. As far as I know, you have to buy both 'The Dreame' and 'Weep You No More Sad Fountains', but they are both here.
Question: I've seen this movie a million times and I still can't figure out the whole "Peter having one testicle because another guy had a pencil in his back pocket because he was a lawyer while they were playing basketball" thing. I got that they were playing basketball but still, can someone please explain to me how Peter lost a testicle while playing a game? Thank you.
Answer: Peter was being boxed out by the other guy, so the other guy was putting his back against Peter's front. With a pencil sticking out of his back pocket, you can imagine how some damage might be done.
Question: Why did General Donald McClintock want to keep the virus a secret and not let anyone know of its existence?
Question: Daniel hates being a farmer and wants his father to sell their farm, but when J.P. Stiles offers Daniel's father money to sell, why didn't he convince his dad to accept?
Answer: Because he knows his dad is not going to sell no matter what he says.
Question: Why can't Glenn understand anything Cole signs, leaving Iris to translate? Glenn knows and uses sign language when talking to Cole so it seems strange that he doesn't know anything that Cole tells him when Cole uses sign language.
Answer: Iris knows and understands sign language much better than her husband. Glen can communicate on a basic level, but when Cole is ready to tell off his father, he wants to make sure Glen understands exactly what he's saying. Remember how Glen didn't know the sign for 'a***hole'.
Answer: Glenn was passionate about music and wanted to be a great composer, something relatively few people are able to attain. At least initially, taking a part-time music teacher position was not what he wanted to do or be - but it provided the resources to support himself/his family while giving him enough time to pursue his dream (music composition/opus). Glenn had an on-again/off-again (mostly "off") relationship with his son Cole, perhaps sometimes due to his lack of commitment, time constraints, frustration, sense of failure, and emotional pain over his belief that he could not successfully nurture the love of music in his near-deaf son. (Glenn was aware of the difficulties Beethoven had.) In some ways, Glenn (selfishly) was saying, "I don't have time for this" (communicating in sign language or providing the fatherly devotion and sacrifice necessary to understand and develop a good rapport with his "special needs" son).
Question: What exactly is a Ghost, and in the last line of the movie, what has occurred? Have the two merged into one and become a new entity?
Chosen answer: The Ghost is your spirit. In the end yes, they both merge, making a new entity, not just a human/cyborg and an AI, but a complete new entity - the whole is more than the sum of the parts.
Question: OK I'm gonna be dumb and ask, what on earth is Franck's nationality and accent?
Answer: Martin short once claimed in an interview that Franck is just a combination of several different nationalities that he combined for the character. Like Bronson Pinchot in Beverly Hills Cop, part of the humour is not knowing where he came from.
Question: When Kate, Luc, Charlie and Juliette are all on the beach, Kate introduces Luc to Charlie. Luc then says something in French (right after he says, "Sweetie-pie?") which isn't subtitled. Can anyone tell me what it is?
Answer: He says "enchanté" - French for "it's a pleasure to meet you".
Answer: "Maintenant je comprends tout." Now I understand everything.
Answer: Madison is not a military academy. It is a boarding school and Major Payne has been put in charge of their JROTC program. It is, however unlikely that those cadets, or the blind cadet at the end of the film, would be admitted into a JROTC program. The Code of Federal Regulations states that the JROTC program is designed for "physically fit" students. Tiger is also much too young to be allowed to participate, you must be in at least the 7th grade to participate. Madison is apparently making exceptions to allow basically anyone that wants to participate and that would not be allowed in real life.
