Visible crew/equipment: At the end of the film when the women have broken up the strike, after everyone has gone back in Sid James and Hattie Jacques are standing talking in front of Sid's car you can see the boom mike reflecting in the window of Sid's car.
Continuity mistake: When Dustin Hoffman drives into town at great speed, he swerves around a tractor going in the opposite direction. He parks the car and exactly one minute later the same tractor drives towards him from the middle of town and heads off up the same road it had already travelled. To accomplish this, it must have turned around and driven back to town at about 90 mph - about 5 times its normal top speed.
Continuity mistake: When Carter is shot at the very end of the film, his shot gun falls clear of his body. In the following shot as the sea washes around his body, his hand is resting on the gun.
Continuity mistake: When Von Aschenbach is dressing for dinner on his first night in the hotel, he makes a great show of placing a red, silk handkerchief in the breast pocket of his white dinner jacket. When he goes down to the dining room, the handkerchief is no longer showing.
Audio problem: When Woody Allen is driving in his car, he is talking to himself. In the next shot, when the car is shown farther away, you can still hear his voice talking, but his mouth isn't moving.
Continuity mistake: When Sandy takes out a condom in bed with Susan, her hair changes between shots.
Continuity mistake: On Day 2, when the two officers go into the town's doctor's office, they leave the van with the driver's door way open, beyond 90 degrees, almost 180. The door didn't move to indicate it corrected itself as they went in. When they come out, the door is almost closed. And there has been no indication of a wind other than the helicopter, and that is supposed to be 1000 feet up and not even close to the office.
Factual error: When the trappers first encounter the Rickarees, the bow cannon is discharged, creating an explosion near the Indians, who promptly turn and ride away. Immediately after, a second shell explodes near them. It would be impossible for a single gunner to sponge out and reload with cartridge and ball in the space of 10 seconds.
Revealing mistake: When the platoon hear the church bells, they mistake it for the invasion signal and construct a barricade across the high street. If you look behind them you can see cars parked on the road in the distance that date from well after the 1940s.
Revealing mistake: A 'bald wig' is visible on Harry Morgan when he first arrives in Purgatory.
Visible crew/equipment: When Maude pulls the banjo out of a cabinet, you see the reflection of crew and lights.
Factual error: In this scene we see two soldiers fire a heavy calibre machine gun into a armoured personnel carrier, which is only a few metres away. As they fire there is a two second delay, then we see the bullets hit the target vehicle. In reality there would not be a two second delay.
Continuity mistake: When Gran first dangles down from the ventilation shaft, the slaver's key ring is too wide to fit through the opening. But when Jim loses his balance and Gran is jerked back into the cell, the key ring is suddenly much smaller than before.
Deliberate mistake: During the chase scene the boats pass under several bridges - most of them sporting crowds of onlookers. The film crew didn't bother to move them before shooting began.
Revealing mistake: Just before Hermie goes into the drug store to buy the condoms, you can see his breath when he is talking even though it's supposed to be summer time.
Visible crew/equipment: When LUH 3417 closes the door of the medicine cabinet because she doesn't have the right to take more pills, there's a reflection of a crew member's hand retaining a door.
Factual error: When Lurcio is dragging his ass through the market he passes several stalls which stock fruits and vegetables totally unknown to the Romans - potatoes, corn, papayas, mangoes and breadfruit amongst them. They were unknown in Europe during the time the film is set, and the Romans did not trade with anyone who knew about them, either.
Revealing mistake: When Von Richthofen is shot down and crash-lands in the combat zone, German and British soldiers arrive and fight for possession of the Red Baron's plane. It is strange, though, that the German soldiers fire British Lee Enfield rifles instead of the German Mauser Gewehr 98.
Other mistake: When Clint Eastwood arrives at Jessica Walter's house and she has made him dinner, he gets very angry at her and storms out the door stating it's over and he never wants to see her again. He speeds off in his car. It only takes him 1 second to leave through the door, walk to the car, open the car door, start the car, and speed out of the scene making a very loud tire noise. Jessica Walters follows him to the door and we hear the car racing from the scene instantly.
Visible crew/equipment: In the lower left-hand pane of glass in the kitchen cupboards, a crew member can be seen moving a rat (Ben) from the center table to where Willard left the box of rat poison. (01:30:42)
