Continuity mistake: When Tawes goes upstairs into the room where Alma is sitting on the bed, they hug then sit on the bed, and kiss. As they kiss, Tawes places his hand on her left shoulder. Then when it cuts to a closeup, his hand is missing.
Continuity mistake: When one of the apes shoots the horse, Brent and Nova fall off the horse and land about six feet away from it. Shot cuts and they are suddenly only about two or three feet away from it. (00:31:00)
Continuity mistake: When the Winter Warlock's icy heart melts, he is holding a toy locomotive with its front showing, but the next shot shows the locomotive's rear showing.
Continuity mistake: When Cratchett gets the bird from the shop, it's clear that the bird is a duck. But throughout the entire film he's referred to as a goose.
Continuity mistake: When 1st Lt. Milo Minderbinder has the egg in his hand and is explaining the profits that can be made, the egg is suddenly gone as he begins walking away.
Continuity mistake: When the Bannister gang begins shooting at the house, the ladies abandon their breakfast to run and hide upstairs. There's a pitcher half full of milk on the table. But a few shots later, when one of the Bannisters bursts into the kitchen, the milk pitcher is empty, and the dishes are in different positions on the table. (01:23:55)
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Jack Nicholson finds the piano on the back of the moving truck, he uncovers it and tosses the tarp on the side of the truck. Over the next few shots, the tarp disappears and then reappears draped over the side of the truck. As well, the shots of Billy Green Bush taken from outside the vehicle show his hands gesticulating wildly, while the shots from inside the vehicle, from over his right shoulder, show his right hand calmly positioned on the upper right part of the wheel. This scene also contains a magically appearing chair. When Jack first finds the piano, he has to lean over to play, but a few shots later, he is seated comfortably on a straight-backed kitchen chair. Continuity mistake: Paul enters the castle in Dracula's coach. When he gets out of the coach and walks around a bit, the coach with the horses has suddenly disappeared.
Continuity mistake: When the two different brothers retrieve the book from the Narrator (and ultimately shoot or get shot), in almost every shot, you can tell the scenes were shot separately by looking at the background. Donald Sutherland's shots are different by the wind hitting the plants in the background; Gene Wilder's shots are different by the position of the sunlight (i.e. one is dark, the other is fully lighted). Obvious if you look closely.
Continuity mistake: When Dr. Brockton is descending into the cave her hair changes from one style to another.
Continuity mistake: In the scene at the hockey game where Oliver talks to Jenny while he's in the penalty box, he wears number 7. When the shot cuts to the action on the ice during this conversation, number 7 is in the game sliding on his stomach, and then back in the penalty box talking to Jenny. (00:04:10)
Continuity mistake: When the police investigator is speaking with the reporter after leaving the victim's apartment before getting in his car, just as he says "No undergarments were found in the apartment", the reporter is shown lowering the notepad in his left hand and has his right hand with a pen in it, placed on top of the car. In the next shot, the reporter's left hand and his notepad are suddenly placed on top of the car, writing in the notepad with his pen. The shot after that, only the right hand is placed on top of the car and the left hand is at his side. (00:25:48)
Continuity mistake: Lady Britt Dorset tells Mr. Graham to hop on her new car. He sarcastically takes exception to the car being 'hers', since she paid for it with the money he gave her. Between these two shots, his umbrella does a 180°. (00:10:50)
Continuity mistake: The junkman played by Redd Foxx closes the door in front of the white guy, who gets in front of the broken window and shouts at him. His hand in the faraway view is on the sill, and in the tighter angle is at the side. (00:45:05)
Continuity mistake: Henry Miller at the beginning of the movie is mooching a few Francs to go out with his wife who just arrived in town. As he is trying to get a few from Boris, Mona's hair keeps changing position in front or behind her shoulders.
Continuity mistake: The wooden box (holding the "silver bullets" that the sheriff is handing out) has no markings on the side from a distance, but when the camera zooms in to see the ammo, you can see heavy black marks like someone crossed out a name and address, and you can also see a paper label partially torn off the box with writing blacked out. Then when the camera zooms back again, and the deputy picks up the box, the side of the wooden box is blank again. (01:21:20)
