Revealing mistake: Near the end of the film, a B-52 seen flying across the screen. The bracket holding up the model is visible.
Revealing mistake: Towards the end of the film, when Hilts (Steve McQueen) is in a motorcycle chase with the German guards, if you watch closely, when the camera cuts away from Hilts and to the German motorcyclists, you might be able to notice that one of the guards chasing McQueen IS actually McQueen! They used him to play one (or maybe more) of the guards because of the experience he had with motorcycles. This can also be seen in some behind the scenes footage on the DVD version of the film.
Revealing mistake: When Rambo throws a rock at the police helicopter and knocks Galt out, you can clearly tell it's a stuntman. Galt is in his 40s and overweight. The guy that was falling looked like he was 25 and was noticeably thinner.
Revealing mistake: When Crockett, Bowie and their men are about to destroy the giant cannon, several of the men are standing right next to it at the moment one of them tosses the torch on the touch hole. Then, there's a big flash at the touchhole. In the very next shot, right before the cannon explodes, we see the cannon, but everyone has disappeared. There was no time for them to flee completely out of sight.
Revealing mistake: Towards the beginning of the movie, young Alexander tames a horse and then jumps on the horse and rides off. He is supposed to be riding bareback, but in one of the shots from a distance, you can tell that the actor's feet are in stirrups.
Revealing mistake: In the scene were Charlton Heston has just said goodbye to Sophia Loren and is about to ride off with his followers (last scene just before the set intermission in the film), you can just make out a tiny little red automobile riding through the landscape in the background.
Revealing mistake: In one of the war flashbacks Stephen carries the wounded Dodge through a trench. They pass by a screaming pig, but in slow motion you can see that it's just a motionless carcass. (01:01:05)
Revealing mistake: In the scene where the soldiers are in the trench on Saipan's D-Day, a Japanese soldier points a gun at Yahzee's head and Yahzee freezes up. Then Enders comes up and slits the Japanese soldier's throat. If you look closely at the Japanese soldier's throat, you can see that there is no cut in it, just blood. (00:46:55)
Revealing mistake: When the mayor's wife attempts suicide by stuffing herself with pills, she is lying behind a sofa, only her arm and the pill bottle being visible as she pours the contents into her mouth. In the next shot (a close-up), however, the crown of her head is visible, and it is evident that she pours the pills over the top of her head.
Revealing mistake: The Acheron fires many devastating blows on the Surprise and the effect is visible in close-ups and a wide shot. However, after Mr. Mowett yells, "Relieving-tackles on the tiller! You men collect the wounded!" there is another wide shot of the Acheron in the foreground and Surprise in the distance. In this shot Surprise has NO damage whatsoever! (00:11:00)
Revealing mistake: This film has the old movie trait of Nazis having German accents rather than actually speaking in German, which is fair enough as they take up the majority of the screen time. However, not everyone adheres to this rule and there are many characters, minor and major who slip in and out of accents, and many never have them at all.
Revealing mistake: When Michelle is binding Topper's hands to the bed you can see the cloth hiding her breasts. (00:30:30)
Revealing mistake: Dooley Wilson (a singer, drummer, and leader of his own touring band) who played "Sam" in the film, couldn't play the piano. A pianist was playing offstage while he sang the songs. If you look at Dooley's hands whenever he is 'playing' the piano, you can see that he is not playing the proper notes. (00:25:30)
Revealing mistake: During the Little Bighorn massacre one of Custer's lieutenants turns to address Custer and is struck in the back with an arrow, and the thick pad or board is visible under the actor's shirt.
Revealing mistake: In the Fredericksburg battle scene, just after the Union officer orders the men to fall back, there is a 1 or 2 second close-up shot of a Confederate soldier taking a hit and falling back. As he does, a modern wristwatch is visible on his left wrist under the sleeve of his coat. (01:49:49)
Revealing mistake: In the scene where the soldier has to have his leg amputated, when a soldier steps over him, he accidentally hits the knife, which bends, revealing it's a rubber prop.
Revealing mistake: Another movie with plenty of getting in and out of cars, without any car ever being locked or unlocked - in a crime-ridden place as pre-revolution Havana.
Revealing mistake: In the final fight scene in the desert between Broken Sword and Flying Snow, when the camera cuts to the wide shots of them standing there, looking at each other, you can see tire tracks in the sand. (01:24:30)
Revealing mistake: When the bridge blows up, there are explosions on the bridge deck itself, but the charges were only set on the pillars below.
Revealing mistake: When the father moves to close his dead daughter's eyes, the daughter's eyes close before the fathers fingers close them.
