Continuity mistake: When the three T-Birds go to moon at the TV camera at the National Dance Off, Doody says "1, 2, 3, go!" and pulls down his trousers to his ankles. In the next scene, his trousers are suddenly pulled right up to his buttocks.
Continuity mistake: During the dance sequence for "That's the Way (I Like It)" Kelly's shoes change twice: at the beginning she is wearing open-toed black shoes, then she is wearing sneakers for about two seconds, then back to the open-toed shoes and finally to the sneakers for the remainder of the scene. Continuity mistake: As Jack Kelly rides the horse near the end of the "Santa Fe" sequence, his hat is waving behind him. When it cuts to a different angle the hat is on his head. Note: This was a specific detail put in by the director, symbolizing the boy's mental transition from New York to Santa Fe. However, it failed and is commonly seen as an editing mistake.
Continuity mistake: During the "Why Should I Worry" song, Dodger goes with his "scarf" of sausages through a basin full of wet cement. Logically the cement should be stuck on the sausages, though that does not appear to happen, even though the sausages went through the cement. There is cement on his paws, though, that he needs to wash off.
Continuity mistake: In the living room, during the party, Margaret O'Brien does a dance with a straw hat and cane with Judy Garland. In one shot Margaret has on blue slippers and in another shot she has on pink slippers.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Joe Gideon is helping his daughter with dance exercises and realises that it is time to put Michelle in a cab, he carries her out of the rehearsal studio with her facing forward and her legs wrapped around his back. They turn a corner to go outside and she magically is facing him arms around his neck and legs wrapped the other way around his waist. Also Michelle suddenly grows a yellow rain jacket. There is no time lapse in the dialog which would explain this turn.
Continuity mistake: When Maria is hitting Tony while saying "Killer," her hair is across her left cheek. In the next shot, it is completely away from her face. (01:48:20)
Continuity mistake: When Pinocchio is locked up in the cage of Stromboli, Jiminy goes inside the cage lock, and he hangs his coat and hat on the outside of the lock. In the next shot, they have disappeared.
Continuity mistake: During The Miracle of Birth Part 1, when the guy goes into the operating room, the girl puts the gown on the first doctor. It's barely on, but, in the next, wider shot of him, it's completely on and she's tying the back together. (00:04:30)
Continuity mistake: At the end of the "Bye, Bye Baby" song the two girls are standing at the railing with two people in between them and the detective. When the shot cuts to their backs the two people in between the detective and the girls have disappeared.
Continuity mistake: Enjolras is holding a book during his protest which disappears and reappears at will.
Continuity mistake: When Elvis is at the pool singing "you're so square baby I don't care" watch his guitar player Scotty Moore sitting behind him. They use two camera shots for the scene. In one shot he has sunglasses on, in the other shot they are gone. This happens throughout the entire song.
Continuity mistake: In the art studio Richie is working on a painting and it only has a small part finished. In the next shot the painting is completely finished. (00:08:25)
Continuity mistake: When Sophie is finally dressed for her wedding, the gauzey material is predominately over her right shoulder/breast. Next shot it is over her left. When she gets on the donkey, it is completely off her right side and her bra shows.
Continuity mistake: When the Leslie Special is rolled out to be presented to the Great Leslie the red carpet in the front view starts at the building alignment. The aerial shot as seen from Professor Fate shows a wide gap between the building alignment and the red carpet.
Continuity mistake: The white carnations in the vase on the piano (Higgin's study) move around from shot to shot during the scene immediately after the Embassy ball.
Continuity mistake: While Sweeney is upstairs with Pirelli, Mrs. Lovett gives Toby a meatpie downstairs. On a closeup, half the pie is gone, but when the shot widens right after, only a couple nibbles are gone from the cake.
Continuity mistake: Toward the end of the song "One Of Us" when Kovu is running away and the birds are chasing him, Simba is standing on Pride Rock looking down at Kovu. In the next shot of Pride Rock, Simba is gone, but in the next shot, Simba is back, in the same position as in the first shot.
Continuity mistake: When Mr. Warbucks is talking to Miss Hannigan, he mentions adopting Annie. After the camera angle changes to see her reaction, the folded blue paperwork suddenly appears.
