Walk the Line picture

Question: After John's arrest in El Paso, in the following scene he's talking with Viv about the incident and denying he has a problem, even though she says everyone around him says so. She then asks about June and he says she left the tour and Viv responds with "Well that explains everything, doesn't it?" What exactly does she mean by that statement?

Answer: Viv's implying he is acting the way he is cause he is upset about June leaving.

Question: What was the significance of showing us Lyla dropping her necklace outside the hotel? Louis didn't pick it up did he?

Answer: I think it was a necklace she was given by her father, and it breaking shows that she is breaking away from him. Her father picks it up, not Louis.

If her father picks it up, how is Wizard wearing it later in film?

Question: When Pushkin wakes up after Bond pretends to kill him at the press conference, he apologises to his wife/girlfriend for putting her through the trauma. But since she was in the bathroom when Bond was there interrogating Pushkin (about Koskov etc.), wouldn't she have heard Bond and Pushkin discussing the staged assassination (after Pushkin says "Then I must die")?

Heather Benton

Chosen answer: She could have been let go off screen once it was clear that Bond wasn't going to kill Pushkin, so they could formulate the plan in secret.

Save the Last Dance picture

Question: The first time Sarah goes out clubbing with Chenille, they run into some other girls from their school. One of them is Nikki, who gets mean and says that she's 'not walking on eggshells just because someone brought the Brady Bunch to the N*gro club'. Chenille gets offended and yells "Nikki, you did not just call me a N*gro." How is the term N*gro offensive? Or were they just not allowed to say ni**err in this movie? (Perhaps to preserve the rating?) Someone please help - this has been driving me nuts.

Answer: "N*gro" was the PC term in the 60's. While by no means vulgar, it has mostly fallen out of use and some people are offended by it.

Cheech and Chong's Up In Smoke picture

Question: During the Battle of the Bands near the end of the film, a band with a singer who sounds like and somewhat resembles Joey Ramone performs a song called "So Socko" (or possibly "So Psycho"). I've heard some people insist that it was, in fact, Joey Ramone in an uncredited role, but it doesn't really look like him and doesn't have Joey's stage presence, i.e, standing still throughout the performance as opposed to moving about the stage. So who was the actual singer for this particular band?

zendaddy621

Answer: The lead singer is Rick Wilder. The band is credited as "Berlin Brats" (The Groups). The song is called "Psychotic", or sometimes listed as " (I'm) Psychotic", but it seems the middle part was cut out for the film or maybe arranged differently for the film.

Question: What is the significance of the guy moving the button on the control panel at the Live Aid concert? He moved the "no" tape and slides the buttons and then puts the tape back.

Answer: There is no major significance other than he felt Queen deserved more volume. Queen was one of the biggest bands in the world at that time.

Question: Why can't Glenn understand anything Cole signs, leaving Iris to translate? Glenn knows and uses sign language when talking to Cole so it seems strange that he doesn't know anything that Cole tells him when Cole uses sign language.

Answer: Iris knows and understands sign language much better than her husband. Glen can communicate on a basic level, but when Cole is ready to tell off his father, he wants to make sure Glen understands exactly what he's saying. Remember how Glen didn't know the sign for 'a***hole'.

Brian Katcher

Answer: Glenn was passionate about music and wanted to be a great composer, something relatively few people are able to attain. At least initially, taking a part-time music teacher position was not what he wanted to do or be - but it provided the resources to support himself/his family while giving him enough time to pursue his dream (music composition/opus). Glenn had an on-again/off-again (mostly "off") relationship with his son Cole, perhaps sometimes due to his lack of commitment, time constraints, frustration, sense of failure, and emotional pain over his belief that he could not successfully nurture the love of music in his near-deaf son. (Glenn was aware of the difficulties Beethoven had.) In some ways, Glenn (selfishly) was saying, "I don't have time for this" (communicating in sign language or providing the fatherly devotion and sacrifice necessary to understand and develop a good rapport with his "special needs" son).

Question: What happened to the two girls in Dave's crew? They were at all the practices, but not in the finals.

Answer: When Dave's crew went to the finals they wanted to bring the best dancers in their group, so they apparently decided that the two girls happened to be the least strong dancing wise on his team.

Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit picture

Question: What did Sister Mary Patrick mean when she said "you don't have to bite the donut to know it's sweet"? I believe this was in the scene when she was teaching her class when Deloris was looking for hers.

Answer: Sister Mary Patrick is being challenged by Sondra, one of her students, who says, "you can't answer any questions about... Sex." The sister's reply is, "oh, don't be so sure - you don't have to bite the donut to know it's sweet." She offers this as an analogy, in order to posit that one doesn't have to have engaged in sex acts to know what sex is all about, or that it may be enjoyable even when it isn't necessarily good for you.

Michael Albert

Answer: You don't need to learn about sex to know what it is about.

Question: Why does the alarm go off when Dave puts the Pick-n-Mix in his mouth and then stop when he steps on it?

Answer: It's a sight gag. Dave's essentially stealing the candy, so the alarm goes off. When he crushes it, the alarm stops. It wouldn't really happen, but it's funny that the alarm stops when he removes the candy.

Selena picture

Question: Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the credits show that Panchito Gomez played young Abraham. I've seen Panchito Gomez in 80's movies such as Tuff Turf and he doesn't resemble at all the actor playing young Abraham. However, he DOES resemble the gentleman in the cowboy hat who stiffs Abraham money for Selena's performance and says "She's just a woman." I always wondered if the credits made a mistake. Anyone know?

Answer: Looking at the credits on IMDB it does show that Panchito Gomez played young Abraham in Selena as well as the role in Tuff Turf. Given that 12 years had passed between the two movies, it's possible that Panchito had gotten older and didn't look like he was when he was 22 compared to mid 30s.

Kevin & Perry Go Large picture

Question: A Trivia entry says that when the title of the film comes up, all the cars are Ford Focus's. Why did the director do that?

Answer: In the UK, at the time of filming the Ford Focus was a very popular family car. Not sure if it was the most popular but its definately a stereotypical family car. So its use would have been to signify that Kev's street is in a typical suburban area.
