Factual error: Babe Ruth is shown batting right-handed; in reality, he batted left-handed.
Factual error: In the scene where Brian gets fired from The Rolling Stones, Keith Richards sees a live album Jimi Hendrix and mentions it, Brian says Hendrix sent him one. But this scene must have taken place in 1969: Hendrix hadn't released any live albums earlier than 1970.
Factual error: When the girls are heading to the Albert Hall, they take a very bizarre route. For them to cross Tower Bridge and pass Battersea Power Station, they would have to travel right through the centre of London, where the Albert Hall is located.
Factual error: In the scene where Violet gets her tapes back outside her apartment, she looks at an envelope with HER name as the sending address and the company as the return address. This is possible, however, the envelope would not be stamped "unsolicited mail" if it was re-packaged by the company. An unsolicited stamp would be there, like all the other envelopes, if it was being returned to her in the original envelope, with her name as the RETURN address, instead of the sending address. Factual error: In the sixties retro scenes vehicles can be seen that didn't start production until the seventies.
Factual error: A marriage at Marylebone Register Office is introduced by a shot of a brass plate which had presumably been made-up as a prop and which carries the incorrect wording 'Marylebone Registry Office'.
Factual error: Just before the band records their first EP Ride Into The Sun, the drummer quits. Rick Allen is shown to audition, is hired, then plays on the recording. In reality, Rick was hired after the recording of the EP. For the recording of the EP, Def Leppard recruited Frank Noon of The Next Band to play the drums.
Factual error: When Miriam is pacing, waiting for Tony to come home, she is listening to Tony singing "Come Live with Me" on a reel-to-reel tape recorder, but the recorder has no speakers, either built-in or separate.
Factual error: Marie plays a horn solo on the beach. At times continuous sound is coming out of the horn while she is inhaling through her mouth. Horns only produce sound when the player exhales.
Factual error: At the end of the movie, Pat is watching a news report about John Lennon's death, which is intercut with scenes of Darby making preparations for his fatal overdose. Darby died almost a whole day before Lennon's assassination.
Factual error: Mardi (Tuesday), le 17 Fevrier 1997 is displayed on the museum wall with the Tresors de China... that date is incorrect as it should have been lundi (Monday)... February 17, 1997 was the 8th Monday of that year. It was also the 48th day and 2nd month of 1997 in the Georgian calendar. The next time you can reuse 1997 calendar will be in 2025. Both calendars will be exactly the same. Feb 17, 1997.
Factual error: The timeline is flawed. Baseball season typically runs Mar/Apr through Sept/Oct - Michael was on teams in FL then NJ. The Spartanburg newspaper article Harry was reading the morning after the Popes fled FL was dated Mar 19, 1987 - Spring. Travelling to NJ as well as during the Popes' stay there, all tree leaves were green - Summer foliage. After asking Michael where he was applying to college, Lorna told him he'd have to apply next term - meaning January. So, was it Spring, Summer, or Fall?
Factual error: A scene in the second half of the film pans up over the top of the Flamingo hotel/casino facing north up the Vegas strip. The Caesars Palace sign is to the left (west) and north of the Flamingo are the Sands, the Dunes, and the Frontier casinos in that order. The Dunes hotel/casino was never located between the Sands and the Frontier. It was in fact one of the southernmost located casinos on the strip at that time and would have technically been behind, southwest of, the Flamingo in this scene.
Factual error: In the scene where James Brown receives a new Cadillac from his manager, the scene is marked by a 1965 timeline header, but the Cadillac is actually a 1967 model.
Factual error: In the scene when Walter was in the den in the middle of the floor, Anna lifts up part of the blanket and he falls through to the first floor. However, in the next scene, he appears to be able to walk without any problem. The second floor was at least 20-30 feet above the first floor and was covered with all sorts of rubble and a wooden floor. If he had fallen that far, he would have been badly injured and would not have been able to just walk like he did.
Factual error: When the girls talk at the beginning of the movie, they can fully hear and understand each other even when they are at massive distance from the webcams they are supposedly using to communicate.
Factual error: After the death of his beloved pet turtle, Conner is on a downward spiral. One of the headlines that appear as paparazzi follow him (before he gets KTFO'd by Martin Sheen) has a "Friday August 08, 2015" date. Which was a Saturday. (00:58:10)
Factual error: When the Coast Guard is calling the fishing vessel, a Cobra CB (citizen's band) radio is pictured with the sound track of a Coast Guard message. The Coast Guard does not broadcast on Citizen's Band. They use the VHF Marine channels instead.
Factual error: While Nate and his business associates are driving around in downtown Baltimore, the Key Bridge (which spans Baltimore harbor) is visible in the background. The movie was set in 1954; the Key Bridge was built in 1972, 18 years later. (01:33:55)
Factual error: Though the Elvis Christmas Special was shot in June 1968, Bobby Kennedy's assassination happened on June 6th and not while the recording had place -as the movie depicts - between June 27 and June 30.
