Factual error: In the beginning of the film, a variety of different suitors are presented to Elizabeth. Amongst them are Eric XIV of Sweden, reportedly "still madly in love [with her]". Even though he was born the same year as Elizabeth; when this film takes place, in 1585, he had already been dead for 8 years.
Continuity mistake: When Mother and Mameha are waiting for the bid on Sayuri's mizuage, Mother's cigarette is short at one point, but becomes longer in the next shot.
Visible crew/equipment: While Dr. Kinsey and the president of the university are talking with Dr. Greg about getting a grant from the Rockefeller Centre, in the mirror behind them on the right hand side you can see a crewmember ducking out of sight.
Visible crew/equipment: At the end when Ella Fitzgerald is singing "When the Saints come Marching in", a camera shadow briefly passes over her right arm.
Continuity mistake: In the scene on the sidewalk where Bev is pretending Faye is her mom (and she's practicing to tell her mom that she's pregnant) the same people walk by several times. I don't think there was a single shot-reverse-shot sequence that had the right people walking by at the right time. You saw the same couple, for example, walk by at least four different times.
Continuity mistake: The white Mercedes has a sunroof in some shots, and not in others.
Continuity mistake: One of the last scenes of the movie, when Karen Silkwood is driving away from Dru they show her sitting in the car waving at him and the rearview mirror is clearly visible. Then she starts driving away, and the rearview mirror is gone. Then as she drives off, you can see the mirror has been replaced.
Continuity mistake: Soon after Jane meets Stephen at the beginning of the film she writes her telephone number on a napkin. Later when he looks at the number it is written much more clearly.
Factual error: Frida is shown watching King Kong when she goes to New York. It is well known that the movie was made in 1933, but later we see on her mother's grave that the year is 1932.
Factual error: When challenged by Henry Lowe, Professor Tolson begins to recite the infamous William Lynch speech. However, the speech was proved to be a hoax that was actually written in the 1990s. No text could have existed at the time of this scene for Tolson to quote.
Factual error: In the game at Pittsburgh, when Ruth hits three home runs, the first two were hit off Guy Bush. When he comes to bat the last time, Guy Bush is still pitching. This was not the case. Red Lucas was the pitcher, and he gave up Ruth's last home run.
Continuity mistake: In the B&W newsclip scenes, Mr. Hopkins is wearing a prosthesis to make his nose longer, a la Nixon. This appliance was apparently jettisoned for the main shoot.
Continuity mistake: When John baptizes Jesus, Jesus' hair is dripping water onto his shoulders as seen from the front. As seen from the back, there's no dripping at all.
Continuity mistake: Jesus is shown from behind on the cross with large gashes on the backs of his legs. He was flogged across the shoulders and back only at the pillar.
Continuity mistake: When Pancho and Frank are bathing in the lake, you see an Italian Horn on Frank's necklace. The camera angle changes and it is now a medallion.
Visible crew/equipment: When the slaves roll the flaming ball down the hill, we see it strike several Roman soldiers. Look closely, they are actually stuntmen dressed in asbestos suits.
Continuity mistake: In the hospital scene, Audrey's mother is sitting down with the bed table to her left. We see her start to rise, but when the shot cuts, she's suddenly standing at the bedside on the other side of the table, with no time transition included for her to get there naturally. (01:57:30)
Factual error: When Griet is introduced to the camera obscura, far too much light is projected onto Vermeer's and Griet's faces. Camera obscuras don't make their own light; rather the image produced on the viewing screen is always dull.
Continuity mistake: While discussing her bodily changes during adolescence, Marji says her left foot became enormous, but the scene shows her right foot growing larger.
Continuity mistake: Near the end, when the hitman walks out of the diner, the camera focuses on the car in the parking lot, cuts back to the hitman, then cuts back to the car. The problem is the shadows in the first shot of the car are about half a meter long, but a few seconds later they are two meters long. Obviously both takes of the car were taken hours apart.
