8.9/10.One of the better sitcoms of the 70's.It was made great because of Red Foxx, a genius comedic actor."You big dummy."is one of the best catchphrases ever on tv.Fred Sanford was way better than Archie Bunker because he wasn't a stereotype, people could relate to him more. Here you had a regular guy just trying to get ahead in life while dealing with the people around him.

Revealing mistake: Fred is reading from "The Joanna Rhodes Beauty Book" and the title is shown on the dust cover. When Fred tilts the book, though, the words "Winston S. Churchill" are visible on the actual book under the dust cover. Also visible is the script from which the actor is reading, tucked inside the book and held by clips.

Officer Hopkins: When we're finished, people will be able to walk down the streets safely in Los Angeles.
Fred Sanford: Yeah they can walk in Los Angeles, but they'll still be running in Watts.

Trivia: Throughout the series, a number of times Fred mentions "Pluto water." It was a popular strongly laxative natural water product that was sold until 1971, when production and sales halted because lithium, one of the mineral salts, was declared a controlled substance. Sanford and Son debuted in 1972, so Fred couldn't have had this product throughout the series.
