Other mistake: When the old well needs filling in, for safety reasons, Ryan is breaking up bricks. If you are filling up a well, first, you'd need lots of bricks and stones, heaps more than Ryan's small pile, and, two, why does Ryan have to break up the bricks? They're going into the well - it doesn't matter if they are big or small.
Revealing mistake: After the Custos's house has been broken into, the next day, the Custos takes a key out of his jacket pocket, unlocks a drawer and takes out a pile of bound papers. When he closes the drawer, he doesn't take the key out of the lock, but he pantomimes his hand returning the key to his pocket.
Continuity mistake: Near the end, Rosemary has a photo in her right hand. When Dr Fairborne starts to get aggressive, at first, Rosemary tries to keep the photo away from him, but when he grabs her and threatens her with a scythe on her neck, the photo has vanished.
Continuity mistake: In order to meet the Queen, Laura stands up from her last minute toils in the herb garden and she has a plant in her her left hand and a trowel in her right. Suddenly, the trowel is gone.
Continuity mistake: When they all line up for the Queen, Ryan is standing next to Rosemary, but suddenly he's gone.
Continuity mistake: At dinner, there is a red wine bottle that stands in the middle of the table, but when Trish arrives, the bottle is now on her placemat.
Continuity mistake: When Laura is clearing the herb garden, on the first day, she overhears Mr Bingham arguing with the Dean; in her hands, she has a very large pair of scissors; but when she turns away, she is now holding a scythe.
Continuity mistake: The windowpane that is broken by the thief is in a door that desperately needs a good paint job. It's the door that leads outside and to a small room full of plants, a veranda of sorts. But when Laura looks at the door, she's looking at the inner door, which looks like it has just been painted, and, in the morning, the broken pane is covered up by a piece of wood, but, again, it's the inner door, which is totally wrong. It's the outer door's window pane that was broken.
Character mistake: After Laura and Rosemary attend Evensong in the church, Rosemary remarks, "I think it's amazing that they perform the same service every week for hundreds of years." But they had Evensong the day before. If they do it every week, how can they do it two days running?
Plot hole: In the garden, when Rosemary and Laura haven't done much clearing away yet, a girl loses her mobile in the garden. Instead of spending "hours" searching for it, why don't they just ring it? Or explain that the battery is dead and they can't ring it?
Chosen answer: Maybe she thinks she's so old that she'll be back in the mortuary soon, so why go home?
