Question: In Claire and Phil's house, what is the room behind the staircase that we never see? It wasn't there in the pilot episode but thereafter, it's got a window and supposedly a good amount of space, as it's in the front of the house, in front of the kitchen. Anybody have any idea?

MovieFan612

Chosen answer: There was a plain wall at the foot of the stairs in the pilot episode. Thereafter, there is a room, but we have never been shown what's in the room.

Chirp - S2-E7

Question: I tried looking for the title of the children's book mentioned in this episode (something about a big day for Biscuit), but couldn't find it. Was it made up by the episode's writers, or does it actually exist?

Answer: I'm not sure if it helps, but there's a children's book series about Biscuit, the little yellow puppy by Alyssa Satin Capucilli. They're books mostly for 3-6 year olds. There's a lot of books in the series and I'm not sure if there's one about a "big day", but it may have been said in the text of the book and not the title. There is a book called "Biscuit and the Great Fall Day." So maybe the line was flubbed or it was written by someone familiar with the Biscuit books and just assumed there must be one about a big day.

Question: In one episode Phil said something he shouldn't have to Claire and tries to save himself by saying, "I mean, I love you" What episode was this and what did he say that he should not have said?

Precious

Answer: I remember that. A quick search suggests it to be season 7, episode 8: "Clean Out Your Junk Drawer." Phil asks Claire "When did you get so old?" :-).

ROBsLab

Answer: No, they're not. It was just a joke because they said they've only had 8 consecutive days of bliss, which just happened to be in December 2007, and it was the Dunphy's version of Hanukkah. They're just comparing it to Hanukkah because Hanukkah also lasts 8 days. The Dunphys have been shown to celebrate Christmas, with presents, Christmas tree, etc, and the Pritchetts have Christmas traditions (see s01e10 "Undeck the Halls").

Bishop73

Answer: Mitch is upset that his dad doesn't seem to support his getting married. When they talk about Jay's friends not coming to the wedding, Jay makes it seem like Mitch wouldn't want them to come anyways. Mitch sees it as it's actually that Jay doesn't want to invite his friends to his gay son's wedding because he's embarrassed and uncomfortable about having a gay son. Essentially Mitch sees it as if he was marrying a woman, Jay would be willing so spend money on the wedding, host it at the club, and invite all his friends to it.

A Sketchy Area - S10-E3

Continuity mistake: You see Phil take the coffee mug from the roof of the car and then he goes inside the car. A few seconds later it's back on top, then a few seconds after that it's gone again. (00:15:30)

Jay Pritchett: God knows I couldn't love them more, but even the Kennedy's didn't get together this often.
