Deadeye Dick - S5-E9
Visible crew/equipment: In the scene where Trampas says, "You can bet no matter what happens, I will be blamed for it," as Sara Lane turns to ride away you can see a Chevy truck for about four seconds. The time left on the counter is between 29 and 28 minutes.
Ride a Cock-Horse to Laramie Cross - S4-E23
Continuity mistake: The dye job on young Clint Howard's hair is inconsistent from scene to scene. It's dark black at the start, but pales to a shade much closer to his natural blond color in many shots later on. His brown make-up (a laughable effort to make a blue-eyed Anglo kid look Hispanic) also varies, and disappears entirely in some of the covered wagon scenes.
The Return of Golden Tom - S4-E25
Factual error: The Tedlers' kitchen is a 19th Century redress of a 20th Century set, but still includes a modern sink and faucet fixture where a water pump should be.
Deadeye Dick - S5-E9
Character mistake: Bob's father's name is Harry Foley according to Granger and the end credits. But James Drury apparently forgot this in one scene, where the Virginian addresses Harry as "Tom."
One Spring Like Long Ago - S4-E24
Continuity mistake: In the general store, Randy rests his arms on a partition, then takes them down and turns away. The following shot is mismatched: he's immediately leaning on the partition again, without enough time to return to that position.
Character mistake: Season 4, Ep. 29, "Bald-faced Boy": Uncle Del forgets his nephew's name during the argument in the cabin. He calls Brett "Mike," which is neither the actor's name nor that of any of Del's other relatives. (01:11:00)
Visible crew/equipment: A red flashing light can be seen in the window across the street from the Virginian talking to a newspaper woman. Must have been a closed set light or filming light.
Continuity mistake: After the fight at the train depot, Colonel MacKenzie's rumpled ascot straightens and reties itself between shots.
Continuity mistake: The red draperies framing Hannah's train-window flashback do not even vaguely resemble the drapes seen on the same window in every other shot aboard the train.
Continuity mistake: When Trampas and Bob meet Mr. Coulter on the road, their horses are close enough to touch flanks. In the reverse-angle shot, however, they're several feet apart.
Continuity mistake: After Frank locks him in the jail cell, the Virginian stands with his hands holding the bars in full shots, but in close-ups, his arms are extended through the bars in a completely different position.
The Wolves Up Front, the Jackals Behind - S4-E26
Continuity mistake: Randy walks into the blacksmith's barn with a guitar strapped to his back. When he steps inside in the very next shot, the guitar has disappeared. (00:03:20)
Continuity mistake: Stacey places his hat on the wagon seat before confronting Lee Caulder's men on the street. When he picks the hat up again, it has moved several inches to the right. (00:47:35)
Character mistake: Set decorator failed English 101 here. The sign over the cemetery gate is misspelled "cemetary."
Continuity mistake: The miniature train used in all the night shots (it passes the same artificial mountainside several times), is pulling three passenger cars and no baggage car. When the full size train arrives at the station the next day, it has a baggage car and only one passenger car.
The Return of Golden Tom - S4-E25
Visible crew/equipment: When a drunken Amos Coe staggers into the saloon, a large rectangular blocking mark is visible on the floor.
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the show, the deceased man is found inside a house. At the end of the show, the killer said the deceased man hit his head on a rock.
First to Thine Own Self - S2-E20
Factual error: Randy sings I'm So Lonesome I could Cry by Hank Williams, who didn't write it until 1949.
The West vs. Colonel MacKenzie - S9-E1
Other mistake: In the beginning of 2-19 "The Drifter" the Virginian says it had been 7 years since he had come to the Shiloh. But in this episode he tells him that he and Trampas had been there 9 years. Doesn't add up. He had to be there before Trampas, longer than 9 years.
The Wolves Up Front, the Jackals Behind - S4-E26
Continuity mistake: At beginning Randy dismounts outside the blacksmith shop wearing a guitar. When he enters the shop there is no guitar. (00:01:00 - 00:02:00)
