Springtime - S3-E2
Continuity mistake: When Adam introduces himself to Ted Hackett, the back-junction on Ted's Y-back braces is bunched up as he and Adam are walking through the doorway, but in the next interior shot of them entering the home, the Y-back is suddenly lying properly. (00:31:35)
Continuity mistake: Adam is in the hotel lobby awaiting the arrival of a rider. The clock behind him says 3:30. He opens the door and looks out for a few seconds, then closes the door. The clock has jumped to 3:35.
The Guilty - S3-E23
Continuity mistake: Ben Cartwright agrees to meet a man at the land office at 9:00 the following morning but when Ben arrives at the office the next day, the time on the wall clock is 5:47. In a scene that takes place a few minutes later, the clock still says 5:47.
Visible crew/equipment: When Adam and Little Joe walks in front of the saloon while asking a man where they can get a bath, a microphone is visible at the top of the screen.
The War Comes to Washoe - S4-E7
Other mistake: In early evening, Hoss and Adam discover the body of a man who had been shot with an arrow and killed. Even though it is still very bright sunlight, Adam lights a match and holds it close to the man's face so he can see who it is, then lights another match so he can read a letter that was in the man's coat pocket.
Factual error: Walter Prescott accuses Hoss of "two-timing" him with a mail-order bride. This episode is set in the mid-1860s and, according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the expression "two-timing" dates from 1924.
Continuity mistake: In the Ponderosa home, Arturo Diaz, a Mexican freedom fighter, is shot by a renegade pistolero. Diaz falls on his back and Ben Cartwright rushes to his side. Diaz says "Adios" and then dies, with his head turned to the left. After a brief close-up of Ben, Diaz's head is now turned to the right.
Other mistake: At night, Adam goes to visit a man whose brother has been shot and killed. After the man lights a lantern on the table to Adam's right, Adam's shadow is to his right and not to his left as it should be.
Revealing mistake: When Mary enters her husband's secret room she lights up the room using a paraffin-oil lamp, but the room lights up before her match has reached the lamp.
Audio problem: During the trial of gunslinger Duke Miller for murder you can hear repeated sounds of the gavel being hammered down by the judge. On several of these occasions you hear the gavel but the judge never moves, nor does he have the gavel in his hand.
The Actress - S4-E22
Continuity mistake: Little Joe falls in love with Julia Grant, an aspiring actress who, with her son, is staying at the Ponderosa for several days. After she learns she has landed an acting job in San Francisco, she and her son leave the Ponderosa. As they ride off in their horse-drawn wagon, Joe is standing next to Ben and Hoss and he is waving goodbye with his right hand. In the following long shot, Joe has both hands on his hips and is staring at the ground.
Visible crew/equipment: Joe and 4 fellow stagecoach passengers are in a cave. A fist-fight between Joe and another man ensues just outside the cave. At one point, a rubber tire is visible in the lower left of the screen. (00:40:15)
Saga of Whizzer McGee - S4-E30
Continuity mistake: When Whizzer is pouring coins from a robbery into the hands of Melissa, she is wearing gloves in camera shots taken from one angle, but have bare hands in shots taken from another angle. This mistake is repeated 8 times.
Audio problem: At a party at the Ponderosa, several couples are dancing to the music of a three-piece band. When the music stops, the sound of applause is heard but nobody is clapping.
Suggested correction: You can't sere everybody in the room. Some people out of view are clapping.
Factual error: This episode is set in 1861. A little girl, Peggy Dayton, has a Raggedy Ann doll. Johnny Gruelle did not create the Raggedy Ann character until 1915.
The Legacy - S5-E11
Other mistake: Adam stops at the Wild Horse Saloon in a nearby town, seeking information about a man who he mistakenly thinks has killed Ben. Outside the saloon is a painted backdrop depicting some two-story buildings. It is the same backdrop seen from the saloon in Virginia City.
Hoss and the Leprechauns - S5-E12
Continuity mistake: Hoss fires a total of 6 shots from his pistol to scare away a bear who is menacing one of the "little green men." He returns his pistol to his gun belt. A few moments later he uses the gun again to destroy the lock on the strongbox. He is never seen re-loading his gun but has fired 7 shots.
The Gentleman from New Orleans - S5-E18
Revealing mistake: They are trying to find where Jean Lafitte is hiding. Thinking that he is behind the drapes which cover a window, two bullets are fired into the drapery. The bullets should have shattered the window, but when they look behind them (and he is not there) the window and the frame are untouched.
Continuity mistake: Adam and Joe are restraining Hoss while Ben gives him a ladleful of a thick white tonic for "spring fever." Joe has his right arm around Hoss' neck and is holding Hoss' mouth open with his left hand. As Hoss takes the tonic, a glob of it spills onto his left cheek. In the immediate close-up, the glob has vanished.
Other mistake: Outside the Pine City marshal's office is a painted backdrop depicting some two-story blue-and-white buildings. The same backdrop is seen from the Virginia City saloon. It also appears in another town in the episode "The Legacy."
