Visible crew/equipment: In the scene where Dana comes back from spending the night with her manager, Alice pushes Jenny and runs and dives in bed. You can see a good shot of a camera man in the mirror.
Factual error: The show takes place in L.A, and in this episode (SPOILER ALERT) Tim and Jenny rush off to hastily and ill-advisedly get married. Los Angeles is three-four hours away from Vegas, where most quickie weddings are done, but a road sign shows them heading to Lake Tahoe/Reno, which is another four hours further away than that. It's just not plausible that they would skip Vegas, where everyone in Los Angeles goes for this purpose, to drive hours further along when they're in such a hurry. It does, however, make sense if you're either ignorant of California/Nevada geography, or if your show is filmed in woodsy British Columbia, where no location can be easily found that looks like the approach to Vegas. Also, the road sign reads, "Tahoe" - an obvious fake. Actual road signs read "Lake Tahoe" and they always show how many miles away it is.
Factual error: (Note: there's no category for Season 1 yet). In the show where (SPOILERS.) Tim rashly and suddenly rushes Jenny off to get married, a sign shows them driving to "Tahoe". 1) Actual road signs in that region read, "Lake Tahoe", not "Tahoe". 2) There are no "quickie" marriages in Lake Tahoe, but there are quickie marriages another 50 miles on in Reno. 3) They live in Los Angeles, and Las Vegas is much, much closer than Reno/Tahoe (Vegas is a 4-hour drive; Reno is 8 hours.) It's not a character mistake, since they are obviously in a huge hurry to get married, and it's nonsensical even for them to choose to drive 4 hours longer, and a completely different route altogether, when they're in such a rush. It might make sense, however, if you're filming in Vancouver and you don't have any nearby landscapes that look like the desert near Vegas, but you have forest that might pass for the area near Reno/Tahoe.
Labia Majora - S3-E1
Continuity mistake: Bette and Tina are with their sex therapist, and when she sits down her glasses are in her hand, from the back view they are on, and when it switches back to the front view, they are off again. (00:17:00)
Other mistake: Given that Alice only stole some of Dana's ashes to scatter at the camp ground, the amount of ashes seen poured into the waterfall by all of the characters is totally unrealistic; much more, in fact, than what would equate to an entire cremated corpse.
Deliberate mistake: Unavoidable, but still noteworthy: At the beginning of season 2, all the story lines pick up where they left of from at the end of season one; indicating that not much time has elapsed. In spite of this, most of the cast have different haircuts, Dana has grown out her fringe, and Tina suddenly has a baby bump.
Continuity mistake: When Jenny and Tim's wife are in the restaurant, you see Jenny waiting holding a drink, and Tim's wife picks the disposable forks and knives. She walks towards Jenny, and walks through the door, then it is suddenly Jenny (wearing different clothes) who is coming through the door and holding the forks and knives. Next shot shows Jenny waiting with Tim's wife, and Tim's wife is holding the forks and knives. (00:24:30)
Factual error: Throughout the season, there are multiple times where soldiers are shown with major deficiencies in their uniforms. It would take too long to point out every single mistake, so the most obvious ones to point out would be when Colonel Davis is wearing her name tag above her unit awards while in her Class A uniform and when Tasha was wearing the Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB) while in her Army Combat Uniform. The name tag goes below unit awards on the Class A uniform, and the CIB is only awarded to soldiers who are in an infantry or Special Forces job, neither of which were open to women when this episode took place. (00:06:40 - 00:07:30)
Let's Get This Party Started - S5-E4
Factual error: Two U.S. Army officers arrive at Alice's apartment to question her about her suspected homosexual relationship with Tasha and then start going through her apartment looking for signs of the relationship. In reality, this would be highly illegal and out of the authority of the Army, considering Alice is a civilian with no ties to the military. No JAG lawyer worth his salt would even consider ordering something like this because it would open the Army up to a very embarrassing lawsuit and could potentially lead to harassment charges against the officers as well.
Answer: I read Diva magazine which is a British lesbian magazine - Leisha Hailey and Daniela Sea have both given interviews and have stated without question that they are lesbians. Despite much lesbian disappointment Katherine Moennig will not confirm her sexuality, stating it is personal and not an issue. Although it was once stated by an american publiction Jennifer Beals 'outed her', once published this was denyed by Jennifer stating they had twisted her words. Jennifer Beals has been married twice, Laurel Holloway according to her official website is married, but has stated in many interview since the L Word began that she is bisexual. Mia Krishner is most confusing of all, various interviews she has claimed different things - bisexuality, heterosexuality and bicuriousity...but notably takes lesbian/bisexual/transgender roles. Pam Grier, Rachel Shelly and Erin Daniels have categorically stated they are heterosexual. Janina Gavanker has never made any comment about her sexuality, although all speculations made on Google are that she is straight. Information on Rose Rollins is sparse and wholly speculation. I can add though that Shane's stalker in season one called Lacey is played by Tammy Lyn Micheals, who according to both parties' official websites has been 'married' to Melissa Etheridge since 2003, they also have children.
