The Night of the Watery Death - S2-E9
Continuity mistake: In the Mermaid Tavern, the abalone shell and West's black hat switch places on the table between takes. (00:02:40)
The Night of the Watery Death - S2-E9
Factual error: The coin Artemus hands West is a Morgan silver dollar. It's no coincidence that the actor's thumb covers the date on the coin in the inserted close-up. The series is set during Grant's presidential term in the early 1870s, and Morgan dollars weren't minted until 1878, after Grant had left office. (00:09:40)
The Night of the Watery Death - S2-E9
Other mistake: After West escapes out of the room where he was tied, he is hiding behind a tall plant by the staircase. There is a person dressed in black lying at the top of stairs who ever so slightly moves. After the fight scene, West attempts to leave from the front door where he is met by the Marquis. When West is backing up into the room, as the Marquis says, "Boys!", one of them is now descending down from the top of stairs - no one is lying on the steps or getting up from steps. (00:31:15)
The Night of the Watery Death - S2-E9
Revealing mistake: When the Marquis meets West at the door, the landscape behind him has a give-away flaw: there are prominent wrinkles visible in the cloth backdrop "sky." (00:31:20)
The Night of the Watery Death - S2-E9
Continuity mistake: When West is untied from the pillar, a close-up shot of his foot shows him stepping on the wooden plank that activates the force field. The next shot shows him walking on the plank, but the force field was activated before he steps on it (from a wide angle shot). (00:38:50)
The Night of the Watery Death - S2-E9
Continuity mistake: Halfway through this episode, West's hands are tied to the bedpost. He frees a hidden knife from his lower right sleeve. The close-up of his right wrist shows two rope strands binding him. When West finally gets the knife in the position to cut the rope, only one rope strand is wrapped around his wrist.
The Night of the Watery Death - S2-E9
Continuity mistake: The knife West uses to throw at the button to turn off the disintegration machine is already embedded in the button before he throws it.
