Continuity mistake: The manager at 'The Minute Mart' sacks Laura because of her benefit fraud, but gives Charlie the job straight away without an interview, not knowing Charlie has just been released from prison for bodily harm and assault charges. Come on, Eastenders, get real.
Plot hole: 30/9/10: How did Zsa Zsa and Leon pass their driving tests so soon? They only left school this year and wouldn't have been 17 years old until at least the first of September.
Continuity mistake: 30/10/08: Bianca's hair dried really quickly after Ronnie pushed her head in the apple dip. And it's wet again at the start of the next episode.
Other mistake: 18/2/15 In the live segment Tanya asks Jane "how's Adam" instead off "how's Ian" mixing up the names of character Ian Beale and actor Adam Woodyatt.
Continuity mistake: On Friday 13 February 2015, when Dot goes back into see Nick, she removes a glove off one hand to take out a cigarette. In the next shot when she lights the cigarette the glove is back on her hand.
Character mistake: 27/1/15 Max tells his two daughters to get in his car to go to Emma's funeral. Max's car is a Mercedes SLK which is only a two seater, and therefore wouldn't seat three people.
Continuity mistake: 15/11/2010 - The scene in the ladies toilet with Lauren Branning and Stacey Slater. The paper towel in the paper towel holder continually changes from short to long and back and forth through the scene.
Continuity mistake: 9/11/10: At the end of the episode, the Land Rover that Jack was bundled into has different number plates at each end, LY09MYS at the rear and YC08FYY at the front.
Continuity mistake: 28/10/10: Alfie, Charlie and Kat are standing outside the pub when Alfie is telling them about the change of venue for the Vic re-opening party. The same blond woman extra walks past them twice.
Deliberate mistake: 9/6/10: When Lucas and Jade are getting into the car, look at the road sign behind them. Lucas is driving down a one way street the wrong way. Also the camera light is reflected in the side of the car.
Visible crew/equipment: 19/2/10 When Bianca is getting into the wedding car, you can see the camera reflected in the door window when the door is open.
Plot hole: How on Earth did Max and Abi manage to survive that road crash in April 2011? Front seat passengers driving head long under a lorry, and all they got were facial scratches. Not likely.
Continuity mistake: 18/2/10: When Carol pulls up at the traffic lights, in the outside shots her car is to the left of the car in front, but in the outside shots she is directly behind the car in front.
Visible crew/equipment: 20/1/09 in the laundrette when Jack's mobile phone rings, as Tanya asks "Which sister is that? Roxy or Ronnie?" you can see the shadow of the boom mike on the wall above the door.
Factual error: In the 2008 Christmas special, Shean fell through the ice on a frozen lake. The water would have been jet black once below the surface, and the water temperature, just above zero, would have meant near instant muscle spasms followed by muscle paralysis, making swimming around and holding your breath completely impossible.
Deliberate mistake: 21/10/08: Jack was giving Darren a driving lesson. Just after Tanya and Lauren got into the back seat of the car, the camera angle changed. As Darren turned the corner into Bridge Street, the driver of the car changed, as he was now much bigger than Darren.
Other mistake: 14/07/11 - During Christian and Zainab's confrontation at Christian and Syed's flat, Christian is trying to gain Z's approval for his and Syed's adoption application. Throughout the entire 10 minute scene, the camera can be seen wobbling from side to side, as though all cast and crew are on the Titanic. The BBC even received complaints from viewers, stating that they had to turn the scene off because the camera angles were making them feel seasick.
Other mistake: 01/01/2013: James Branning's tombstone says he died on January 1st 2011, when he actually died on December 31st 2010.
Continuity mistake: 19/2/10: During the live episode, Bradley fell from the Vic roof on his back, feet facing the pub as he falls. When he lands, his body has rotated 180 degrees and his head is now facing the pub. Also he is now face-down, having landed on his front. How is this possible when he fell backwards?
Revealing mistake: 14/3/23 In the final scene when Kat slams the front door after leaving Stacey's house the wall shakes.
Answer: Most likely a mistake by the set designers or it's a recycled set which already had the switch on (they just repaint and add other fittings).
At my workplace there is a two-gang switch with a three-gang switch underneath it, one of which is for the shop lights, the other four have no apparent use.
