Gerda Wegener: It's hard for a man to be looked at by a woman. Women are used to it, of course, but for a man to submit to a woman's gaze - it's unsettling. Although I believe there's some pleasure to be had from it, once you yield.
Gerda Wegener: I need to see Einar.
Lili Elbe: Let me help, please.
Gerda Wegener: I need my husband, can you get him?
Lili Elbe: I can't.
Gerda Wegener: I need to talk to my husband, and I need to hold my husband. Can you at least try?
Lili Elbe: I'm sorry.
Gerda Wegener: We went for coffee, and after... I kissed him. And it was the strangest thing. It was like kissing myself.
Ava: Isn't it strange, to create something that hates you?
Ava: Do you want to be my friend?
Caleb: Of course.
Ava: Will it be possible?
Caleb: Why would it not be?
Ava: Our conversations are one-sided. You ask circumspect questions and study my responses.
Caleb: Yes.
Ava: You learn about me and I learn nothing about you. That's not a foundation on which friendships are based.
Caleb: So what? You want me to talk about myself?
Ava: Yes.
Caleb: Where... Okay, where do I start?
Ava: It's your decision. I'm interested to see what you'll choose.
Tom Sherbourne: Sometimes it's good to leave the past in the past.
Isabel Graysmark: So if I can't talk about the past, am I allowed to talk about the future?
Tom Sherbourne: We can't rightly talk about the future if you think about it. We can only talk about what we imagine or wish for. It's not the same thing.
Isabel Graysmark: What do you wish for then?
Tom Sherbourne: Life. That'll do me, I rekon.
Napoleon Solo: He's trying. To stop. The car.
Gaby Teller: We're struggling here. Why don't you take a shot at him?
Napoleon Solo: Somehow, it just doesn't seem like the right thing to do.
Alice: To be no good at something bad is good.
Alice: We are not all evil, you know, as your master would have you believe. Some of us are good. Some are bad. And the rest are simply unaware.
Vera Brittain: At college, more than anywhere else, one was likely to make the friendships that supported one through life.
Vera Brittain: Please don't keep things back from me, Roland, with an idea of sparing my feelings. I shall never be afraid to confront the real. The imagined holds far greater terror for me.
Vera Brittain: Like no-one else... you share that part of my mind that associates itself mostly with ideal things and places... The impression thinking about you gives me is very closely linked with that given me by a lonely hillside or a sunny afternoon... or books that have meant more to me than I can explain... This is grand, but still it isn't enough for this world... The earthly and obvious part of me longs to see and touch you and realise you as tangible.
Vera Brittain: If this word should turn out to be a 'Te moriturum saluto, ' perhaps it will brighten the dark moments a little to think how you have meant to someone more than anything ever has or ever will. What you have striven for will not end in nothing, all that you have done and been will not be wasted, for it will be a part of me as long as I live, and I shall remember, always.
Lu Ren: Some men like dangerous women.
Lara Croft: Some men are foolish.
