Center Stage (2000)

Other mistake: After Jody, Charlie, and Cooper take their last curtain call, the shot goes backstage. Sergei yells at Eva, "You! I'm gonna kill you!" presumably because she surprised him by taking Maureen's place. Eva responds, "I'm so sorry. I wanted to tell you." And they argue playfully and then hug. But it's been a long time [the entire length of Cooper's ballet] since their ballet finished. And we saw the backstage scenes immediately after Cooper's ballet and after the Italian Symphony ballet, and everyone had a chance to talk right then. And Eva and Sergei finished their ballet in each other's arms. So they should have had that whole conversation a long time earlier. Even if real ballet dancers wouldn't be permitted to talk after a performance, the dancers in this movie are shown speaking freely to one another backstage as soon as the curtain falls. (01:44:05)

Center Stage (2000)

Continuity mistake: In Cooper's ballet, after Jody's pas de trois with Cooper and Charlie, where she is wearing a blue dress and blue or silver shoes, the shot focuses in on her feet, wearing the silver shoes. Then it pans up to her body, and she is suddenly wearing a red outfit. Then, the shot widens, and her shoes are also red. The costume change is not possible as shown; it would require an intermission or other break during which Jody is not on stage, but the movie depicts her continuous presence on stage with shots panning across her body. Center Stage (2000)

Plot hole: In Jonathan's ballet at the workshop, Sergei proceeds very slowly through an array of twenty dancers before reaching the leading lady, whom he expects to be Maureen. But instead it is Eva, whom Maureen has asked to take her place. When Sergei sees Eva, he is extremely surprised. I guess that could make sense, if he's been focused on his own dancing. But the stage crew and several dancers in the wings start chattering confusedly, as if they've also just seen Eva for the first time in that same moment. However, Eva must have been standing there for several minutes, or at the very least had just walked through the crowd of surprised people, and Maureen must have been missing from her spot this whole time, so these people should be in mid-reaction.
