Continuity mistake: As already noted in another mistake, when Han is about to be frozen in carbonite, his jacket appears and disappears between shots. This jacket can also be seen when Lando says, "You're being put into carbon freeze." This shot was not fixed in the DVD. (01:35:05)
Catwalk
Suggested correction: That is a shadow, giving the illusion it's a jacket.
Continuity mistake: After Han is frozen in carbonite, the outline of his shirt indicates that he is wearing a different shirt from when he was frozen. It isn't the shirt he's wearing after being unfrozen in "Return of the Jedi", it looks more like the shirt he was wearing in "Star Wars". (01:36:00 - 01:37:10)
Revealing mistake: After the headless AT-AT begins to fall over, watch its back leg on the right side of the screen. You can see a broomstick being pushed up from under the set. It raises that foot up in order to ensure that the AT-AT falls to the left side of the screen. (00:33:00)

Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
Continuity mistake: In the last part of the lightsaber duel, and in the following scenes, the color and seriousness of the wounds and bruises on Luke's face keep changing: For example, in the iconic segment where Luke reacts in shock and horror at Vader revealing himself to be his father, the injuries look quite nasty, but when he comes to a stop inside the tunnel after falling from the catwalk, they look far less severe. Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
Revealing mistake: Vader cuts off Luke's hand at the wrist. When Luke is holding on to the antennae-like assembly underneath Cloud City, in one shot, Mark Hamill bends his wrist, revealing the gimmick. (01:52:55)

Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
Continuity mistake: When Luke climbs into his snowspeeder, his hair is shorter than when he said goodbye to Han and Chewbacca while on his way to the speeder. When he takes off his pilot helmet on Dagobah, his hair is back to normal. (00:22:20 - 00:25:40)

Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
Visible crew/equipment: When Luke and Vader are fighting in the carbon-freezing room, in the wideshot after Luke does a somersault, a crew member is visible in the steam on the right side of Vader, moving out of the way. (01:40:50)
Suggested correction: It's Luke, not a crew member.
Continuity mistake: Widescreen version: Darth Vader and Admiral Piett are talking on board the Star Destroyer at the end of the movie. In the first shot, a man is standing behind Piett. In the next shot of Vader and Piett, a different man is standing behind Piett. Then, in the third shot of Vader and Piett, the first man is back. The design of the wall and window also differs. Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
Continuity mistake: When Vader cuts through three poles at the end of the lightsaber duel, there are different poles in the shot where he cuts through them and the next shot where they fall. The poles that are cut have a white color, while the ones that fall are dark grey. (01:45:50)

Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
Continuity mistake: During the duel in Cloud City, Darth Vader cuts three pillars with his light saber, just before cutting Luke's hand. The pillars aren't burning after that yet in the following shot, they are burned. (01:45:55)
