Trivia: The rumors that Steven Spielberg secretly directed the film got so bad that an investigation had to be opened, and he actually posted an open letter in the trades thanking director Tobe Hooper for all the great work he did making the film, and stating that he believed people misinterpreted the creative partnership they had on the film.
