Trivia: The film was originally more intricate and had more going on, but much of the material was cut due to budgetary constraints. A few plot-centric scenes were also cut during editing, with Vincent Price needing to record new voice-over to deliver plot exposition. (This is why it appears that Phibes sometimes talks without having his voice box plugged in.)

Trivia: The abrupt resurrection of Vulnavia, who was apparently killed by acid in the previous film, is never explained. Originally, it was meant to be a different assistant helping Phibes in this film, but it was changed to be Vulnavia once again. The scrapped third film would have reportedly revealed she was actually the physical embodiment of the Goddess Athena, hence her ability to reconstitute a physical form.

Trivia: A third film was planned that would have either seen Phibes battling Nazis or trying to discover the gods of Mount Olympus, but due to a variety of business reasons, it never happened.
