Hellraiser (2022)

Trivia: One of the major issues that stalled this reboot and kept it from being made earlier was that executives at Miramax, who owned the rights at the time, wanted to tone the franchise down and make the movie PG-13 so it could appeal to teenagers. None of the writers or directors attached wanted to make a PG-13 "Hellraiser," and many exited the project over this bizarre and insane mandate. Once Clive Barker got the rights back, production moved forward on this (very) R-rated installment.

Hellraiser (2022)

Trivia: At Voight's estate, Trevor asks Nora "What's your pleasure, ma'am?" when offering to make her a drink. This is a subtle callback to the original film, where the nameless merchant asks "What's your pleasure, Mr. Cotton?" and later "What's your pleasure, sir?" when selling the box.

Hellraiser (2022)

Trivia: This reboot has been in some form of production since 2007, but kept getting tied up due to rights issues and a revolving door of writers and directors who would enter and then leave production. It is finally coming out in 2022... 15 years after it was announced.

Hellraiser (2022)

Trivia: The first "Hellraiser" to have the direct credited involvement from franchise creator Clive Barker since "Hellraiser: Bloodline" in 1996. (Barker reportedly gave some minor notes on the sixth film, "Hellseeker," during editing, but was uncredited and uninvolved otherwise.) Director David Bruckner said Barker was heavily involved and provided feedback, suggestions, artwork and references throughout production, and would help the team bounce ideas around for the story and characters.

Hellraiser (2022)

Trivia: The first film in the franchise to feature a female "Pinhead," as portrayed by actress Jamie Clayton, a trans-woman. Despite some minor backlash online, original Pinhead actor Doug Bradley has spoken out in support of Clayton, noting that the franchise has always been transgressive and unique, and that he loved her performance on the show "Sense8." It should also be noted that the Cenobites in the original book were mostly androgenous, though "Pinhead" was said to have a feminine voice.
