Trivia: During episode two, Chloe can open a cabinet in Frank's RV. Inside is a stash of dozens of cans of baked beans, which Chloe observes as an "insane amount of beans." This is an inside joke referencing a moment in the original game, in which the character Max can dump a plate of beans Frank is eating on the floor, causing Frank to have a complete meltdown. The moment subsequently became an internet meme, so the developers of this prequel threw in a nod to Frank's love for beans.

Continuity mistake: There are some minor inconsistencies between the original game and this prequel regarding Chloe's time at Blackwell Academy. In the original game, Chloe's dialog during episode three suggests she's never been in principal Wells' office, but in this prequel, Chloe is seen visiting the office. Additionally, this game, which is set in 2010, shows Chloe being expelled. But documentation in the original game indicated she was expelled in 2011.

Trivia: The game opens with Chloe sneaking into a club to see a fictional band called "Firewalk." The band's name is a reference to the "Twin Peaks" spin-off film "Firewalk with Me." "Twin Peaks" was one of the main inspirations for the original "Life is Strange."

Trivia: Ashly Burch, who portrayed Chloe in the original "Life is Strange," was unable to reprise her role in the three main chapters of this spin-off "Before the Storm" due to an actor's strike. However, the strike ended before the completion of the bonus forth chapter, "Farewell," and Burch was finally able to voice the character once again in this chapter. (Chloe is played Rhianna DeVries in the other three chapters). Despite not being in them, Burch also served as a writing consultant for the three main chapters, as Chloe is one of her most personal roles and she wanted to make sure the game was true to the character.

Trivia: Spoilers. The producers have admitted that they would have deleted the final scene of chapter three (which implies Rachel's death in the dark room, as referenced in the original game) in retrospect. They felt the scene went too far, and was too traumatic.
