Continuity mistake: When Shawn sees the box with the dead doctor's files, Regina Kane's file is visible halfway back in the box. He then tells Gus, "All we have to do is find Regina's." Continuity mistake: When Columbo asks if he can borrow the psychiatrist's lighter, the man has his cigarette in his mouth and a newspaper in his left hand as he reaches into his pocket for the lighter. In the next shot, as he hands the lighter to Columbo, the cigarette has jumped into his left hand with the newspaper. (00:27:40)

Continuity mistake: When Columbo takes the whiskey decanter out of the murdered man's liquor cabinet, he puts his cigar in his mouth with his right hand and opens the bottle with the same hand. A second later, the shot changes to a closeup of him sniffing the contents and the cigar is back in his hand. (00:28:55)

Continuity mistake: In the psychiatrist's office, Columbo strikes a match and lights his cigar. Two seconds later, we switch to a closeup shot and the match is about six inches away from his cigar, which he proceeds to light again. (00:44:15)

Continuity mistake: When Monk and Natalie are talking to Kemp in his office, the desk ornament and the cup of pencils that Monk keeps organizing change positions between shots. In the shots from Monk's side of the desk, the ornament is closer to the door. In the shots from Kemp's side, the pencil cup is closer. (00:09:40 - 00:11:20)

Continuity mistake: When Monk is trying to join the two cops' conversation about football, in the shots from the side of the police car that they're standing near, the two cops are standing less than a foot apart. In the shots from the other side of the car, they're far apart enough for Monk, Natalie, and Captain Stottlemeyer to stand between them. (00:03:00 - 00:05:00)

Continuity mistake: When Max is phoning the Chief to let him know the mission's been accomplished, he takes the oars out of the oarlocks before opening his shoephone. The oars change from being out of the oarlocks in the closeups to still being in the water in the long shots for the rest of the episode. (00:23:50 - 00:24:30)

Continuity mistake: When Monk is telling Captain Stottlemeyer about Trudy's death, he says that by the time he got there, she wasn't even able to speak, that she held his hand and died. However, in "Mr. Monk Meets Dale the Whale," we learn that Trudy's last words were "Bread and butter," and that she said them to Adrian right before she died.

Continuity mistake: When Drake is leaning against the back of the park bench while talking to the tailor, in the shots over his shoulder, his watch is partially covered by his shirt cuff.
