Revealing mistake: The single kerosene lamp West lights inside Bronzini's circus wagon not only lights up the entire room, it also impossibly casts his shadow on two different walls at once as he searches the various trunks.(00:14:50)
Revealing mistake: West and Gordon burn a perfect circle (unlikely in and of itself) in the metal floor in order to break into the dungeon below. West punches the circle out with his fist, then grasps what should be white-hot edges with his bare hands before jumping through the opening. Even if wood it would still be too hot to touch.(00:32:00)
Revealing mistake: "Night of the Running Death": During West and Gordon's poker game at the end, Gordon tilts the table by at least 30 degrees - and none of the poker chips, cards or cash moves an inch. Apparently, everything was glued down.(00:44:30)
Revealing mistake: Talamantes' giant pet spider looks pretty impressive - until it moves and reveals that its wiggling legs are made of rubber.(00:23:30)
Revealing mistake: Though the stock footage is of a real wolf, the animal West wrestles with is too-obviously a dog wearing a fake pair of wolf ears. In later wrestling matches between West and the wolves, the attacking beast is a stuffed prop that never moves its legs, head or jaws at all.(00:03:30)
Revealing mistake: The town of Wickenberg has very peculiar sunlight: it casts shadows in several directions at once. Also notable is the far end of its main street, where a distinct line of demarcation reveals the presence of a painted studio backdrop.(00:00:10)
Revealing mistake: When the Marquis meets West at the door, the landscape behind him has a give-away flaw: there are prominent wrinkles visible in the cloth backdrop "sky."(00:31:20)
Revealing mistake: The rectangular openings from which the knives thrown at West will actually emerge are visible on the door behind him. After the knives "land," the rectangles disappear.(00:18:50)
Revealing mistake: West and Gordon are supposedly hiding in opposite corners of the ice house, yet each actor is crouching in the same area with the exact same blocks of plastic ice surrounding him.(00:40:30)
Revealing mistake: The "corpse" Miklos wheels into Dr. Faustina's laboratory is pretty healthy for a dead guy: you can see his chest moving up and down as he breathes.(00:27:00)
Revealing mistake: Tony throws two knives at West - but on the wall where the knives hit, the rectangular openings from which the blades actually emerge are delineated beforehand. Happens again a few scenes later, where slots cut in the door are already there before the knives are thrown. [Spoiler: It's inconsequential to the "revealing" error, but if you play the scene in slow motion, you can see that both times, the knives pop through from the back of the "wall." This is also how the carnival trick is performed.](00:17:05)
Revealing mistake: "Night of the Bubbling Death": Artemus takes off his coat and is wearing smoke canisters strapped to his back underneath. But the close fit of his jacket in previous shots reveals that the device wasn't there until just before he began removing the coat.(00:43:15)
Revealing mistake: After they're carried inside and placed in chairs, one of the "unconscious" women moves her arm into a more comfortable position.(00:33:00)
Revealing mistake: When the marshal opens the train's rear door and comes in to arrest Lana, you can see wrinkles in the "sky" outside. It's really a painted cloth backdrop.(00:48:40)
Revealing mistake: Mr. Braine fires a mini-rocket at Brendage, killing him. But a poor camera angle reveals the explosive charge going off in the wall more than two feet to Brendage's left. From the angle at which it was fired, the rocket couldn't possibly have hit him.(00:21:45)
Revealing mistake: Mr. Braine screams as his steam-powered chair crashes into the bandstand. If you look closely at the next shot, just before the explosion, you can see that the dummy now in the chair has its head bowed forward. It also has light brown hair, rather than Mr. Braine's silver hair.(00:47:10)
Revealing mistake: Zachariah Skull's bald head has a problem. The latex skull-cap used to cover the actor's hair keeps bubbling and wrinkling as he speaks.(00:43:00)
