Spider-Man 3 (2007)

Question: Why did Peter decide to abandon the black suit? I mean, what was the reason for Peter to free himself from the symbiote suit?

Answer: After he struck Mary Jane in the jazz club, he finally came to the realization that the suit was having a negative influence on him and making him aggressive.

Question: I'm sure I missed it but, why did Mary Jane turn down Peter's proposal?

Answer: Because he was letting his career as Spider-man become more important than her. They way he milked the crowd and kissed Gwen the same way she kissed him, from the first movie, when the city honoured him.

Answer: In Spider-Man 2, Harry Osborne discovered Peter Parker's secret identity. He was waiting for the right opportunity to use that information. When he saw how much in love Peter and Mary Jane were, that's when he threatened to expose him to the world, if she didn't break up with him.

Not that scene. It's the scene where Bruce Campbell has his cameo as the maitre'd and Mary Jane was angry at Peter.

She technically didn't turn down his proposal in that scene because he never got the chance to propose to her. She left the restaurant in anger before he could.

Spider-Man 3 (2007)

Answer: Sandman is a fugitive who is on the run. It is more than likely that his name has appeared in the news at some point. His daughter and her illness would likely have also been mentioned as well. Seeing as how Eddie worked at the Daily Bugle, it shouldn't have took long for him to put two and two together.

Casual Person

The symbiote (which turned Eddie into Venom) usually has its previous owner's memories. So Eddie might have known about Sandman's daughter through Peter's memories.

But Peter doesn't seem to know he had a daughter and shows surprise when he's told of her at the end.

Rob245

Supposedly there is a deleted scene where Venom finds out about Sandman's daughter but it was cut for time, so it ends up creating a little bit of a plot hole in the final film.

Question: Gwen Stacey is at Harry Osborn's funeral. Does she know that her ex Eddie Brock was the one that killed Harry? And does she know that Eddie was "the strange black suited figure" on the news (aka Venom) ?

jwegman30

Answer: It's unclear. Only Peter and Mary Jane knew that Eddie was Venom and that he killed Harry. Spider-Man may have decided not to tell the press that Eddie was Venom out of desire of not wanting Eddie to be vilified, given that Peter knows firsthand what the symbiote does to a person. The public could very well be under the impression that Venom killed both Eddie and Harry, but that the true identity of Venom was unknown before being destroyed himself.

Spider-Man 3 (2007)

Question: When Harry confronts Peter as The New Goblin for the first time while trying to avenge his father, was he planning to kill Peter, or just torture him by toying around with him in a terrible way?

Answer: He was planning on killing him before unmasking him in the previous film, so likely his intention here was to still kill him. He's shown to have used the gas that Norman tested on himself which made him insane and more aggressive, which would suggest Harry would undergo the same changes.

Phaneron

Answer: Harry's intent was to kill Peter because he believed that Peter was responsible for the death of his dad Norman. When Harry tries to knock Peter off a building and even throws pumpkin bombs at him.

Spider-Man 3 (2007)

Answer: Spider-Man's powers are part of his DNA, so since the symbiote bonded with him, it was able to absorb Spidey's DNA into itself.

Spider-Man 3 (2007)

Question: Why did Peter put part of his black symbiote suit on when going over to Harry's?

Answer: The longer Peter wore the symbiote, the more influence it had on him. It was effectively making Peter do things that he would never do and because Peter saw how much stronger it made him, he began to wear it more than his original suit.

Answer: He typically wears his suit underneath his regular clothes to begin with if he's not going out for sole purpose of being Spider-Man and patrolling the city.

Question: What exactly happens with Peter Parker and Mary Jane's relationship at the end of the movie? I know they reconcile, but afterwards do they get back together and get married or is it purposefully left ambiguous?

Answer: It's implied that they are back together, but whether or not they get married is unclear. It's not purposefully left ambiguous as there was meant to be a fourth film, but Sony opted to cancel it and reboot the franchise.

Question: Why did Eddie smile when he received the Symbiote? I mean he seemed terrified at first but when he was on the ground he smiled.

Answer: The symbiote is shown to have an influence over its host, demonstrated by the change in Peter's personality after he bonded with it. Eddie, who was already bitter and angry by this point, could feel the symbiote taking over him, and while initially terrified, he quickly began to understand, accept and enjoy the change occurring within himself.

Question: What did Harry ask Mary Jane to do when he kidnapped her just before she asked Peter out to meet her on the bridge? Did Harry asked Mary Jane to break up with Peter or else he will kill/harm Peter?

Answer: In a nutshell, yes. Harry wants revenge against Peter/Spider-Man because he incorrectly believes he killed Harry's father. He wants to make Peter suffer, and he knows making Mary Jane break up with him will be devastating.

Answer: He actually says "Never wound what you can't kill." Basically he means "You can't beat me, so don't even try."
