Continuity mistake: When McClane and Farrell are fired upon during the escort to DHS, Agent Johnson is killed and slumps against the steering wheel, and in the next shot the deceased's foot slips off the brake so the car jolts forward and hits the FBI's SUV in front of them. Four shots later, in the interior shot from the back seat directly behind McClane ducking inside the car, we see Agent Johnson sitting upright very much alive, at the left side of the screen. Trivia: The film's title is a reference to New Hampshire's state motto "Live Free or Die." The film was shipped to theaters under the title "New Hampshire."

Continuity mistake: When McClane first brings Farrell to the Cyber division, McClane has a cut over his eyebrow that he gets from a fight scene later in the film. [This mistake is pointed out in the DVD audio commentary: this scene was filmed after said fight scene was completed. Still a mistake, though.] (00:29:00)
