Continuity mistake: The same man next to Lois on the train is standing on the platform a second later.

Continuity mistake: When Nuclear Man steals the Statue of Liberty, its pedestal looks normal. When Superman puts it back in place, the pedestal is missing a huge chunk (surely because of some FX going wrong). In further shots, it's fixed.

Revealing mistake: When Superman and Nuclear Man fall down the building, their capes remain stuck to their backs, defying the laws of gravity, and thus revealing that the scene was shot with them standing up and then turning the camera around.

Visible crew/equipment: When Superman saves the day in Moscow, the edge of the set and the backlot behind can be seen on the sides of the wall where the politicians stand. One can even see the set's scaffolding on the right. (International theatrical, TV and LaserDisc releases.)

Continuity mistake: When Moscow's Red Square scene begins, the tanks and soldiers parade in front of the authorities (a combination of matte painting and a real set). When Superman arrives, a second tree has appeared next to the one on the left. On the right side, an unfinished painting has replaced the previous huge wall, trees, and decor. Revealing mistake: Many shots of Nuclear Man flying are reused throughout the movie.

Visible crew/equipment: Nuclear Man descends close to the statue of liberty to fight Superman. For a brief glimpse his supporting wires are seen.

Revealing mistake: When Clark receives Lex's signal, he rushes out of the room where Lois and Lacy are. First, he crouches behind a couch and disappears. Then the camera pans to the right, and now he's Superman. Problem is, one can still see Clark's stand-in crouching behind the couch, revealing how the trick was achieved.

Continuity mistake: When Superman flies to save the girl inside the tornado and the family exits the basement there's a truck by the entrance door filled with hay. Half a second later the truck is gone and reappears behind the family, but now it's empty. (Laserdisc and international extended editions).

Continuity mistake: Before lava covers the Italian village, furniture under the two arches on the right, as well as a vase, cart wheel and table on the left disappear between shots.

Revealing mistake: During the tornado, when the little girl cries by the window check the lower corner of the window on the right and you'll see the white string moving the window. (Laserdisc and international extended editions).

Continuity mistake: While the lava flows on the Italian village, a wooden cart with hay on the left suddenly becomes a red car.

Other mistake: When Lois and Superman fly together, the part where they fly over some horses is the very same shot as when they fly over the Golden Gate for the second time.

Revealing mistake: When Superman discovers that Nuclear Man is stealing the Statue of Liberty, he turns around and you can see the wrinkles on his temple from the wig he was using.

Visible crew/equipment: After Superman leaves Lenny in school, he takes off and the wooden barrier of the platform ascending him is noticeable on the lower left side of the screen.

Revealing mistake: Right after Lex, disguised as a soldier, orders the launching of the missile, there's a shot of the truck carrying it. The driver is a cheap mannequin that looks very much like a scarecrow.

Visible crew/equipment: When the SWAT van is lifted up there is a crane reflected on SWAT van.

Revealing mistake: After Superman leaves the Statue of Liberty, a thick string is noticeable under his cape to keep it up and fluttering.

Revealing mistake: When the missile is launched, Superman flies to catch it. However, his face has some sort of stocking over the upper part and the man looks nothing like Christopher Reeve. It was either a stunt double, a bad special effect, or a cheap mannequin.

Visible crew/equipment: When the cosmonaut is fixing some cables, a crew member's hands holding the camera are reflected on his visor.
