Factual error: When Cattleya escapes through the sewer drain and winds up in front of the U.S. Embassy, she uncovers the manhole all by herself. Impossible for such a young child to do.

Character mistake: The actor who played FBI agent Ross is Lennie James, who is an English actor. When they are searching for the girl in the parking garage of her building, he orders the SWAT team and other agents to search everywhere, under the cars and to "check the boots." He says this twice. Boot is the British term for trunk. He should be telling them to check the trunks of the cars, not the boots.

Plot hole: When Cateleya is in prison she changes into a black cat suit. Where has that come from? Where had she hidden that? She is wearing a very skimpy dress and would not be allowed a handbag or anything.

Trivia: The film was originally written as a sequel to "Leon: The Professional" (also known as "The Professional") that would follow a grown-up Mathilda. However, due to rights issues, the movie was reworked to be a stand-alone film focusing on an original character.
