Postcards From the Edge (1990)
Directed by: Mike Nichols
Starring: Dennis Quaid, Meryl Streep, Gene Hackman, Shirley MacLaine
Continuity mistake: When Shirley MacLaine is driving Meryl Streep home from the rehab clinic and they are pulling into the driveway, the head-on shot shows Shirley wearing sunglasses. The next cut we see Shirley in the rear-view mirror and there are no sunglasses.
Continuity mistake: When Meryl Streep wakes up in the hospital, she is being asked questions by an appointed psychiatrist. The psychiatrist's hands move from down on her writing pad to up by her face every time it switches from front to back view. (Notice the left side of her face, fingers and pen visible).
Trivia: Shirley MacLaine (born 1934) is only fifteen years older than Meryl Streep (born 1949), who plays her daughter.
Doris: So, how long have you known Suzanne?
Jack: Oh, about a month. Seems like longer, though.
Doris: I know what you mean. I'm her mother and it seems longer.
Suzanne Vale: Instant gratification takes too long.
Doris: Sing one of your old numbers from my act.
