City of God (2002)

Continuity mistake: During "The Li'l Zé story" before Li'l Dice (Dadinho) kills Goose (Marreco), a woman's white purse changes position, from the right side of Li'l Dice to his upper left side, between the shots. (00:40:05)

Revealing mistake: At the end when Li'l Zé (Zé Pequeno) and his crew want Rocket (Buscapé) to take a picture of them in the street, a long-haired boy with a blue shirt is the first to be killed in the final shooting. A couple of seconds before he is shot in the chest, the shape of the blood pack is visible under his shirt.

Visible crew/equipment: The narrator explains that the traffic of drugs is a business just like any other. As we hear the words 'the police receive their part', a boom mike is visible at the top of the screen. (00:48:40)

Zé Pequeno: Can you read?
Gang Member: I can read only the pictures.

Buscapé: What should have been swift revenge turned into an all out war. The City of God was divided. You couldn't go from one section the other, not even to visit a relative. The cops considered anyone living in the slum a hoodlum. People got used to living in Vietnam, and more and more volunteers signed up to die.

Boy 1: The big deal is dope, you got it?
Boy 2: If you wanna be a dealer, you gotta start as a delivery boy, see?
Boy 1: This delivery boy business is real bullshit. The time it takes being a delivery boy, then security and then manager, is way too long.
Boy 2: What you gonna do? You've gotta wait for them to die.
Boy 1: No way! I'll do it just like Pequeno did: you gotta whack everyone and that's it.
