Continuity mistake: At the hotel he is staying at with Belinda, there is a side shot of Mahowny walking down an escalator. Going up are 2 men. There is then a shot from the bottom of the escalator and the 2 men have been replaced by 2 different men and a woman. (00:41:25)
Owning Mahowny (2003)
Directed by: Richard Kwietniowski
Starring: Philip Seymour Hoffman, John Hurt, Minnie Driver, Maury Chaykin
Continuity mistake: When Mahowny is asking Doug for his money back, the slotmachine next to the one that Doug is playing on has different lights lit and flashing depending on the shot. (00:24:10)
Factual error: Mahony gets Can$15,000 from the bank he works in in Canada and flies to Atlantic City (US) where the cashier gives him US$15,000 of chips. US and Canadian dollars are not equivalent and, at the end of 1981, the cashier should be giving him less than US$13,000. Since he is broke, he couldn't have made up the difference himself. (00:09:30 - 00:11:30)
Psychologist: You know, some folks believe everyone has a public life, a private life, and a secret life. What do you think about that?
Dan Mahowny: The thing is, I guess... that my secret life... is a bit less secret than everyone else's right now.
Psychologist: How would you rate the thrill you got from gambling, on a scale of one to 100?
Dan Mahowny: Um... hundred.
Psychologist: And what about the biggest thrill you've ever had outside of gambling?
Dan Mahowny: Twenty.
Dan Mahowny: How much for the bags?
Car Rental Girl: They're free for customers.
Dan Mahowny: Great, can I have one?
Car Rental Girl: Well, you're not a customer, so.
Dan Mahowny: Okay... how much for the bags?
