Continuity mistake: In the scene where the townspeople are fleeing to the mall there is a shot of the Deputy driving the car. You can see the top left hand corner of the windshield is covered in green goo, but when you see them parking the windscreen is completely clean. (01:03:35)
Eight Legged Freaks (2002)
Directed by: Ellory Elkayem
Starring: Scarlett Johansson, David Arquette, Doug E. Doug, Kari Wuhrer, Scott Terra, Rick Overton
Continuity mistake: When the townsman flees the Diner and gets into his car to flee, the front car window is wound up. The next shot of his face clearly shows the window wound down yet his hands have been busy starting the car all the time. (01:01:10)
Continuity mistake: In the scene where the spiders are starting to attack the city, it shows the guy in the barber shop closing up. He shuts the blinds then his friend gets attacked by the spiders, then he goes back out in front and the blinds are still open. (00:51:00)
Trivia: If a tarantula were to ever grow to the gargantuan size that it does in this film, it would resemble a huge furball. The filmmakers were aware of this, but for obvious reasons decided to tone down the amount of hair. (00:56:35)
Trivia: The film originally featured the working title "Arac Attack." ("Arac" being a shortened version of "Arachnid", a class of animals that spiders belong to) However, following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and rising tensions in the Middle East, the original title was dropped in many countries because producers felt "Arac" sounded too similar to "Iraq", and they didn't want to have any social or political implications in the title. (However, the film was released with the original title in some territories).
Trivia: This film has some notable connections to the comic-book company Marvel. To start, is was released the same summer as the 2002 film "Spider-Man." The Sheriff's family has the last name "Parker," which is the same last name as "Peter Parker", aka Spider-Man. At one point, the mayor asks what attacked, to which another character replies "A spider, man!" as a cheeky reference to the character. And Scarlett Johansson plays a fairly major role in the film... and she would later go on to play Natasha Romanov in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, who goes by the codename "Black Widow " which is a breed of spider.
Randy: She is the sexist sheriff in the whole country.
Joshua's Parrot: I see dead people, I see dead people.
Joshua: He likes that movie, dunno why.
Chris McCormick: Harlan, get up here.
Harlan: I'm afraid of heights.
Chris McCormick: Heights? Are you afraid of spiders?
Question: Do the spiders grow big because of the food that they are fed, or because of the chemicals spilled in the water?

Answer: Both! The owner of the spider farm was feeding the spiders bugs from the water that had the chemical spill in it. The bugs were contaminated with the chemical, thus contaminating the spiders. Note: The man who owned the spider farm had no idea about the contaminated water.
