Revealing mistake: In the scene where the bodies are found in the river, Tom Berenger yells, "Sarah". As he looks down the river in the "wilderness" a logging truck can be seen driving down a road.

Other mistake: As the murderer spots a police car coming towards him he turns to his right onto a dirt road, there is a huge boulder at the point where he turns, marked "No trespassing, Bishop Falls camping". As he turns he sideswipes it, rocking the boulder, however the sideswipe has no effect on his vehicle.
Continuity mistake: During the scene when Tom Berenger is crossing the cable car by hand, the amount of rope coils left in Sidney Poitier's hand varies from shot to shot.
