Factual error: In the infamous Highland bus scene, the driver can be seen issuing tickets from a computerised ticketing machine - astonishing really - the film is set in the early 70s.

Continuity mistake: When Bess waits for Jan to arrive by helicopter there are some long strands hanging over her face. The camera cuts briefly to the helicopter and back to Bess, and the strands are gone. (00:02:30)
Continuity mistake: When Bess goes to the ship the first time one of the men cuts across the back of her blouse, starting from the right shoulder. In all later shots the cut starts at the left shoulder. (02:00:10)
Jan Nyman: Love is a mighty power, isn't it?
Bess McNeill: I don't understand what you're saying. How can you love a word? You cannot love words. You can't be in love with a word. You can only love another human being. That's perfection.
