Continuity mistake: In the scene when Tina Turner is running away from Ike she has to cross a freeway. If you look closely you will see that she has on high heels then she has on sneakers as she is running across the freeway.
What's Love Got To Do With It? (1993)
Directed by: Brian Gibson
Starring: Laurence Fishburne, Angela Bassett, Demetrice Cheathon, Dororthy Thorton, RaeVen Kelly, Virginia Capers
Continuity mistake: In one scene, Ike is dragging Tina down the hall to the bedroom, and you hear him saying, "Shut the f*** up!" three times, but when they show his face, his lips aren't moving.
Continuity mistake: When Tina first becomes a Buddhist, they show a scene of her chanting while Ike is in the other room turning up the volume of his stereo to tune her out. Several scenes later (and several years later, according to the subheadings) after Ike and Tina are divorced, they show the same scene of Tina chanting. Her hair and outfit are the same; it's actually the same exact scene.
Trivia: The real Ike Turner, makes a 2 second appearance just after the court sentence granting the couple's divorce. When the character of Ike Turner says, "I GAVE YOU THE NAME", the real Ike Turner is the thin man with the moustache and grey suit who follows Tina Turner's character into the lift.
Trivia: Before being cast as Ike Turner, Laurence Fishburne had turned down the role no less than five times. He eventually changed his mind when he found out that Angela Bassett was given the part of Tina Turner.
Grandma Georgiana: Your mama had to go away for a while.
Young Anna Mae Bullock: When is she coming back to get me?
Grandma Georgiana: She ain't, honey. She just ain't.
Ike Turner, Sr.: Hey, Anna Mae, where you goin'? I need to get some sleep.
Tina Turner: Go straight to hell, Ike.
Judge: I want you to be very sure about this. This means you're gonna walk out of here with absolutely nothing.
Tina Turner: Except my name. I'll give up all that other stuff, but only if I get to keep my name. I've worked too hard for it, your honor.
Ike Turner, Sr.: The name is mine. The name got my daddy's blood on it. If she wanna go, she can go wherever she wanna go, but the name stays home.
