Factual error: As the ship lands the ship's voice states "temperature at 2.725 K." At that temperature, only helium would be a gas. All others would be frozen solid, thus probably no atmosphere. In a virtual vacuum. It would be virtually impossible for a breathable atmosphere to be present within the structure. This temperature is incompatible with life.

Prometheus is the 2012 movie that brings up more questions than answers about the origins of life and worse as another space crew tracks a rogue signal to a strange planet and encounters nasty, vicious creatures bent on destroying all that they come across. It's familiar, mind-bending and just OK. Watch Alien/Aliens instead.

Question: As someone who's only seen the first Alien film, which films are necessary (or even helpful) to watch before viewing Prometheus? I understand it's a "prequel" that's only tangentially related to the rest of the movie universe, but I'm interested in getting the full experience here.

Answer: It's a matter of opinion, but watching the first Alien film gives enough of the necessary back story to understand Prometheus. However, it's possible to watch and understand Prometheus without seeing any of the other four Alien films. I would only recommend watching Alien 1 and 2.
