Continuity mistake: In the scene where Fagin approaches Sykes with an airtight plan to repay the money he owes, watch how the office door shade in the background pulls itself up at one point. In addition, the word 'office' appears on the door for a brief time, only to disappear in the midst of Dodger's fight with Roscoe and DeSoto. (00:51:40)
Continuity mistake: After being pet by Sykes, Oliver jumps out of his hands and over to Fagin and Dodger. But watch as a couple of dog treats instantly appear in Sykes' left hand, which he tosses over to Roscoe and DeSoto. (00:53:00)
Continuity mistake: When Fagin meets Jenny on the pier, there's a tanker visible in the background nearby. But a moment later, after Fagin takes one step in Jenny's direction, the tanker instantly moves much further away down the pier. (00:54:15)
Continuity mistake: When Fagin first meets Jenny, a pail gets jammed on his right foot. However a short time later when Sykes shows up, the pail has switched feet. And at one point in the scene where Jenny reveals the piggy bank, Fagin has no pail on his foot whatsoever. (00:54:20 - 00:56:30)
Continuity mistake: When Jenny hands her piggy bank over to Fagin, the way she holds it changes as the angle does. First she holds the bank at its sides, then from beneath. (00:55:00)
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Fagin returns Oliver to Jenny, a nearby 'Keep Off' sign lying on the pier changes to 'Keep Out'. (00:55:45)
Continuity mistake: As Francis is standing atop a stack of teetering boxes just outside of Sykes' shipyard office, both front paws are at his side when he starts saying "Farewell, Dulcinea" with a dramatic tone of voice. But in the next shot his left paw is suddenly lifted high into the air. (00:57:40)
Continuity mistake: When Georgette and the strays are on a catwalk overhearing a telephone conversation between Sykes and Winston, Tito - standing in front of Rita - disappears from the group between shots. (00:59:05)
Continuity mistake: During the "Why Should I Worry" song, Dodger goes with his "scarf" of sausages through a basin full of wet cement. Logically the cement should be stuck on the sausages, though that does not appear to happen, even though the sausages went through the cement. There is cement on his paws, though, that he needs to wash off.
Continuity mistake: The dog called 'Tito' has a piece missing from one ear - the piece missing changes from one ear to the other.
Continuity mistake: In the "Why should I worry?" song scene, the red scarf on Dodger's neck appears and disappears between shots, for instance, it is not shown when he is on top of the woman's car nor after but when he scares the woman it is visible on his neck.
Continuity mistake: As the movie begins, on the sidewalk in front of a store there is a box filled with kittens and a sign reading "Kitties - need home." The words "need home" are in all capital letters. In the close-up, only the "N" is capitalized and the rest of the words are in small letters.
Plot hole: Close to the end of the movie when Sykes is chasing Fagin on the train tracks Jenny says Fagin's name. Fagin also seems to know Jenny's name as well because he says her name and tells her to jump. How did they know each other's names?
Plot hole: When Sykes chases the gang down the subway, Fagin has to lurch to the left to end up on the subway tracks. However, Sykes couldn't do this because his car is to big to fit. Instead, his car jumps onto the subway tracks as if he were on a platform that separated the tracks, which subway tracks most certainly do not have.
Continuity mistake: Near the end, when Tito steers the trolley back down the bridge edge, Georgette looks neat and calm, but a little later on after Jenny hugs Oliver when he wakes up, it cuts to Georgette and her hair is all messed up and she looks petrified.
Continuity mistake: While talking to Sykes on the pier, Fagin falls into the water. As he walks back inside, water is dripping from his hair and clothes. He then sits in a chair, but there is no water on the floor where he has walked.
Other mistake: Immediately after Fagin deposits Oliver and the dogs on the sidewalk, Oliver has no shadow. Then, a few scenes later, neither Oliver nor Tito have a shadow.
