Factual error: When Dicky (Christian Bale) is cheering to the guards after Micky (Wahlberg) wins the Sanchez fight, the guards are next to a modern, flat screen computer monitor. (01:19:51)
Factual error: In the home video scenes, which were supposed to have been filmed during the 1970s or earlier, young Mickey Ward is shown wearing gloves bearing the Title Boxing logo. The Title Boxing company wasn't founded until 1998.
Factual error: In a scene where they are panning through Mark Wahlberg's apartment, there is a visible, almost direct shot of a modern Jack Link's beef jerky bag. This scene takes place in the early 90's, where this design didn't come out until 2005 or later.
Other mistake: Micky Ward's KO record shows the same number of knockouts before the Sanchez fight and before the final fight, although his knock out of Sanchez should have increased his KO record.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Micky is introducing Charlene to the family and telling Alice & Dicky that he doesn't want to be managed or trained by them anymore in one shot there is a Rock 'em Sock 'em game on the end table, and in the next shot it's not there.
Continuity mistake: In the training ring, Micky has the white bandages on, then he has black boxing gloves and then he has the white bandages on again - all within the same scene.
Continuity mistake: Mark Wahlberg's fight statistics shown before final fight are the same as those shown for the previous fight - wins statistic is 20 for both. it should be 21 for the final fight as it was his victory in the previous fight which qualified him for the final fight/championship match.
Factual error: When Dickey (Christian Bale) arrives in jail, his cell block has several, modern security cameras lining the ceiling.
Other mistake: The knockout totals for Micky's last fight should be 21 and not 20. 20 knockouts were listed for the fight prior to his last one, and he knocked out of the last fighter with the liver shot.
Factual error: In the scene where "High on Crack Street" premieres, the modern logo for HBO Documentary Films on screen. The original special did not have any opening logos and simply said Home Box Office Presents.
Factual error: In the scene where Micky and Dicky are jogging down the street, you can see in the background a brand new Toyota pick-up truck that was not available in the 1980s.
Continuity mistake: Upon returning home after the fight in Atlantic City, the wrong side of the face is patched up. He got hit on his right side, and the left side has all the bandages and the right side had no damage at all.
Factual error: Going into the fight with Shea Neary (the last on in the movie), the television broadcasts that Ward's record is 20-7. In reality, Ward's record going into that fight was 34-9.
