Continuity mistake: Near the end of the movie, Ethan tells Peter that he had his wallet all along. Peter steps forward from the car wearing his glasses. In the very next shot, they are gone and nowhere to be seen. (01:16:30)
Factual error: In the scene where Peter & Ethan are traveling across Texas on I-120 the train reads Union Pacific, but Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) is the one that runs that track.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Peter (Robert Downey, Jr.) is drinking the energy drink in the petrol station, the angle of the bottle changes. From the profile shot, the label can be seen with the brand visible, but cut to the front-view and you can see that the bottle has completely shifted angles.
Factual error: When Ethan is driving through Texas while Peter is sleeping; the camera shows a Texas Highway traffic marker that reads: "Dallas 36 Miles." In the same camera shot, we see mountainous terrain in the background; followed by additional camera shots that show more mountainous terrain as they travel on the highway before crashing off the overpass. The problem is that there is no mountainous terrain 36 miles outside of Dallas, Texas; it's pretty much flatland.
Visible crew/equipment: When Ethan accidentally shoots Peter near the end of the movie, when he says "don't panic" while getting out of the car you can see the camera's shadow on the back of the car.
Continuity mistake: On the airplane, Zack's 2nd from the top shirt button is unbuttoned. Between frames it suddenly becomes buttoned.
Continuity mistake: When the car goes off the flatbed type ramp, there are no rails on the sides. In the next shot as the car makes the jump, there are now railings on the ramp.
Factual error: After the truck drives over the drainage ditch and Peter tells Ethan not to tense up, there's a sign pointing to I-75, 8 miles away. At this point they are in Texas. I-75 runs north through Georgia (from Florida to Michigan) and is nowhere near Texas.
Continuity mistake: When the station wagon knocks the car door off, there is no one directly behind it and only one Chevy a way back. In the next shot when Peter is looking out the door, suddenly there are several cars behind them. And the Chevy we see is not the same one we saw earlier.
Continuity mistake: When Ethan starts laughing at Peter's story of his dad leaving, the dog is sitting on the jacket. In the next shot of the dog, the jacket is moved down and he's no longer sitting on it. The bottle of water on the jacket also changes position.
Factual error: When we see Ethan's driver's license, the expiry date is wrong. The month and day should be the same as his birthday, not the exam date.
