Moonstruck

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Loretta goes to the brother's apartment, cooks him a rare steak & they are sitting at the table talking, the label on the bottle of J&B changes direction from shot to shot without being touched.

Continuity mistake: In the scene towards the end of the movie, when Rose gets the door to let in Ronnie, her hair is messy. When she returns her hair is neat.

Continuity mistake: At the family meal (minus Loretta), Loretta's father asks for the wine. When Rita passes it to Cosmo his left hand reaches into the shot to take the carafe, but when the shot changes he is shown receiving it in his right hand, and Rita's grasp changes as well. (00:41:00)

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Cher is sitting at the kitchen table, talking to her father and drinking Spumante, the level in the champagne glasses is different every time the camera angle changes.

Continuity mistake: Loretta at one point in the movie gets a make-over which includes getting her hair coloured to cover up the grey. In several scenes before she gets her hair coloured Loretta's grey hairs are missing - when Loretta goes to meet Ronnie (Nicholas Cage) for the first time at the bakery, Loretta doesn't have any grey hair.

Continuity mistake: There is a scene in which Johnnie comes from the airport and visits the house where Loretta lives. The mother opens the door for him, but no-one closes the door. After a while the father enters and the door's closed.

Continuity mistake: While Nicholas Cage is enjoying Cher's steak, at one point in the scene his elbow is up on the table for the shots from the front, but his forearm is resting on the edge of the table for the shots from behind - the camera switches between these two views several times.

Question: When Grandpa is walking his dogs, you can hear a boy say, "Keep your dogs off my lawn," then laughs. You hear his laugh again in the beauty salon. What was that about?

Answer: The laugh does seem out of place because it sounds more like kids than the ladies at the salon. But it didn't sound like the same laugh to me. But it does sound like the same person recorded both laughs. It also seems like the kid's line was added after filming the shot. So it wouldn't surprise me if an adult (perhaps one of the production sound mixers) recorded a couple different lines and laughs in a pretend kid's voice. Then one of those laughs was added.

Answer: I tried to find a clip of these scenes but didn't find exactly what you're referring to. If it was the exact same laugh that was heard, it may be a sound effect added to the film during the post-production editing. Foley artists add all types of sound effects to movies, including laughs, groans, coughs, etc. Sometimes one particular sound gets used more than once. One famous example of a repeated sound is the "Wilhelm" scream. This particular scream has become a tradition that many editors add to movies.
