Continuity mistake: When Leigh Anne is making Thanksgiving dinner, she's holding a wine glass up to her mouth, then in the next shot it's down near her chest. (00:25:50)
Factual error: Just before Michael and Leigh Anne enter the Big and Tall store, they walk past a Georgia Lottery 'PLAY HERE' sign, and several paces later Leigh Anne says, "I have been in Memphis my whole life..." illustrating that it was filmed in Atlanta, GA, not Memphis, TN. (00:32:30)
Continuity mistake: When Leigh Anne and Michael are shopping at the Big & Tall store, Leigh Anne's hand moves from her purse to clasping her other hand in front of her, between shots. (00:33:20)
Character mistake: During the montage of teachers trying to get Michael up to speed, we see a history test Michael has completed being marked. The question at the top asks where the battle of Waterloo took place. Michael has answered Germany, which has been marked by the teacher as correct. The correct answer was actually answer C, south of Brussels. (00:37:45)
Character mistake: When Coach Fullmer is recruiting Michael and SJ to Tennessee, he ends the conversation by calling SJ the wrong name - "my pleasure, CJ." (01:33:25)
Continuity mistake: When Mike takes the family photo he's smiling, but in the next shot with the photo printed he's not.
Continuity mistake: When Leigh Anne is on the field explaining to Michael how to play taking care of his teammates, the sun changes between shots.
Continuity mistake: When Leigh Anne goes downstairs to see Michael after the first night he stays with the family she is wearing a simple gold cross necklace. When she has to catch up with Mike out on the driveway she is wearing a cross make up of round diamonds. The two necklaces change appearance in same scenes in several places.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where the family is preparing their Thanksgiving plates, Sean Tuohy puts green beans and mashed potatoes on his plate. In the next shot of Sean, it is empty and he is putting mashed potatoes on his plate.
Other mistake: During the scene in which Michael and SJ are singing and have a wreck, the "Passenger Airbag OFF" light is on. However, Michael is said to have stopped the airbag that wouldn't have deployed. Nothing is stated to show that it would have been faulty.
Continuity mistake: When Mike's given his car, the position of the blindfold over his forehead changes depending on the angle. Either it's close to the eyebrows or several inches above.
Continuity mistake: When Miss Sue is describing the University of Tennessee to Michael at the dining room table during a tutoring session, there is an Ole Miss logo glass/cup on the table. The logo (and glass/cup) moves several times during the scene.
Visible crew/equipment: After Mike throws the redneck player over a fence, he talks with the coach and a big umbrella shaped lighting screen gets reflected on his helmet.
Continuity mistake: In the graduating scene Mrs. Tuohy's necklace is in a regular position, then it is up higher, then back down.
Character mistake: In the scene where the biology teacher (Mrs. Boswell), looks-over Michael's test paper. There are at least 4 or more factual, spelling, and/or grammar errors on the test itself: Question 5, answer "a" has incorrect grammar. Question 6, uses the spelling of the number 2, as "to". Page 2 of the test, question 3 spells the number "two" incorrectly. Question 4 refers to a previous question about environmental changes that doesn't exist in the test.
Continuity mistake: Towards the end where the family is saying goodbye to Mike at college, the sun changes between shots.
Revealing mistake: When they are watching football, the mom walks in and says something to the family while she is holding 4 Pepsi cups in a cardboard cup holder with only one hand. If the cups were actually full, the way she was holding it it would have tipped over.
Factual error: In the football game action, the officials are shown. One official is wearing a long-sleeved striped shirt, while another is wearing a short-sleeved striped shirt. All officials dress the same while officiating high school football games.
Factual error: When the family eats at Thanksgiving they are watching the Egg Bowl between Ole Miss and Mississippi State which is always played on Thanksgiving. But you can see through the windows that it is light outside and the Egg Bowl is played at night. Even if it was the start of the game, the game starts at 6 pm Atlanta time which is dark by then.
Answer: Because you're seeing her in the reflection of the window and thus you see a reverse (or mirror) image (i.e. the camera is pointed toward the window and not the car).
