Up in the Air

Other mistake: When Ryan and Alex are first together in the hotel room, there is a gratuitous nude view of her getting on the bed. The body double used for this couldn't be more than 21, and her appearance is quite at odds with the character, who is pushing 40.

Suggested correction: This is pure opinion. Yes, it has been said that a body double was used in this scene. But within the world of the movie, there's no reason that can't be Alex. She reveals later that she's 34, and many women look absolutely splendid at that age. We see her partially nude in the very next shot, with no big discrepancy from what we saw from behind. It wasn't until after several viewings of this movie that I found out that this was a double, and even now that I know, it's still not obvious at all.

Other mistake: In the scene where Ryan Bingham is giving his self-help presentation to an audience in Miami, he is standing behind a podium that says Wichita.

Ryan Bingham: How much does your life weigh? Imagine for a second that you're carrying a backpack. I want you to pack it with all the stuff that you have in your life... You start with the little things. The shelves, the drawers, the knickknacks, then you start adding larger stuff. Clothes, tabletop appliances, lamps, your TV... The backpack should be getting pretty heavy now. You go bigger. Your couch, your car, your home... I want you to stuff it all into that backpack. Now I want you to fill it with people. Start with casual acquaintances, friends of friends, folks around the office... And then you move into the people you trust with your most intimate secrets. Your brothers, your sisters, your children, your parents and finally your husband, your wife, your boyfriend, your girlfriend. You get them into that backpack, feel the weight of that bag. Make no mistake your relationships are the heaviest components in your life. All those negotiations and arguments and secrets, the compromises. The slower we move the faster we die. Make no mistake, moving is living. Some animals were meant to carry each other to live symbiotically over a lifetime. Star crossed lovers, monogamous swans. We are not swans. We are sharks.

Question: I'm fairly positive that one of the African-American female terminated employees, who has a very small but significant role in Up in the Air(trying to avoid spoiling the plot), is Elise Neal. Elise Neal was D.L. Hughley's wife in The Hughleys and also starred in Hustle and Flow. Any reason why she is not credited on the film? imdb.com and other sites do not list her as a cast member.

Answer: It's not Elise Neal, it is Tamala Jones.

Answer: It is not unusual for actors to appear in films in uncredited cameo roles. There's many reasons. Their appearance is not significant enough to warrant a film credit, it is a surprise for the audience, they do it for fun or as a favor to the director or producer, it avoids contract obligations, and so on.
