Continuity mistake: When Jimmy is talking to Dottie by her car before she goes home with Bob, the background behind Jimmy changes too much for the slight change in the angle of the camera (i e, a blue VW with three people standing by the trunk versus a red/burgundy car, plus the blue car reappears). The white representing the house behind the trees also looks different compared to a direct shot of the house. Also, the sun was shining, the road looked wet and a little later, the road looked dry. 21 continuity mistakes
Directed by: Penny Marshall
Starring: Tom Hanks, Bill Pullman, Jon Lovitz, Geena Davis, Madonna, Lori Petty, Rosie O'Donnell
Continuity mistake: During the scene where Dottie and Jimmy are sitting beside each other at the front of the bus having a conversation, the camera cuts to Mae painting Kit's nails on the back seat of the bus. When the camera cuts back to Dottie and Jimmy, if you look at the back seat of the bus, Mae is sitting by herself and Kit is already about to sit back down in her seat in the middle of the bus. It doesn't seem likely that there would have been enough time for her to be in that position so quickly. (01:11:45)
Kid: Mr. Dugan, can you sign my baseball card? Whoa... avoid the clap, signed Jimmy Dugan.
Jimmy: That's good advice!
Trivia: Betty Spaghetti is played by director Penny Marshall's daughter, Tracy Reiner. Walter Harvey is played by the director's brother, Gary Marshall.

Answer: Rosie O'Donnell auditioned for the role of Marla, but lost it. Penny Marshal thought she was a good actress and so funny she created the role of Doris for her. As for Madonna, she was like all singers getting offered movie roles. She was very popular back in the 90's, but reportedly a total diva to work with.
