The Langoliers mistake picture

Continuity mistake: The holes which the Langoliers make near the aeroplane, when they chase after Criag Toomy, change position, size, shape, move closer to the plane and then finally vanish. (02:13:30)

The Langoliers mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When the Langoliers bite off Toomey's leg, he falls to the ground and his tie can be seen falling over his right shoulder. When the camera cuts to an angle behind him, the tie cannot be seen over his shoulder. A couple of shots after that, the tie suddenly over his chest. (02:14:35)

Continuity mistake: When Toomey is begging his father to make the Langoliers go away before they eat him, he has his hands raised in front of his face. There is then a close-up of his mouth, and we can see to the left of shot, his hand grabbing onto the side of his head. (02:14:48)

Continuity mistake: When the Langoliers begin eating Toomey, Nick grabs hold of Laurel while he closes the door. In one shot, Laurel's hair is under Nick's arm leaving her left shoulder exposed. But in the next shot as the door starts to close, Laurel's left shoulder is suddenly covered by her hair. (02:14:54)

Other mistake: Aircraft door is closing, aircraft is going underway. The roll up stairs are still on the side of the aircraft, I used to fly the L-1011 for a living, the side air stairs would cause a bit of damage to the leading edge of the wing. Next scene shows aircraft underway and no air stairs and no the target style engine reversers weren't used in this situation (these aren't clam-shell style as the other writer has probably seen on the arc-9/MD80 series aircraft), there would be a lot more noise and turbulence. The Langoliers mistake picture

Revealing mistake: When the Langoliers make a hole in the ground to stop the passengers from leaving, Brian turns the plane around so that the plane can take off from a different part of the runway. In the shot of the plane turning around, tyre marks can be seen on the ground, presumably from previous takes. (02:15:32)

Suggested correction: This was filmed in and around Bangor International Airport. Of course, there will be tyre marks.

The Langoliers mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Brian is about to fly back through the time rift, there is a mixture of blue and orange lighting coming from the rift that is cast on him and the wall behind him. When Nick rushes into the cockpit to tell him to turn back, in the close-up of Brian, the wall behind has blue light on it. When the shot cuts to have Nick and Brian in the frame, the wall now has orange light on it. (02:33:43)

Continuity mistake: When Nick sits back in the passenger seat after Brian turns away from the time rift, he is holding onto his left arm after banging it. When he sits down, his left hand is placed over his right arm. When the shot cuts, his left hand is suddenly raised upward slightly. (02:34:58)

Casual Person

Factual error: When Nick "turns the pressure back on" all he does is flip his O2 regulator from normal to emergency. This would not have helped the other passengers wake up. (02:46:20)

Other mistake: When the plane lands in LAX, as it slows down on the runway, in one shot the lettering (LI011) on the plane is reversed in one shot. (02:49:50)

Hamster

Continuity mistake: When the surviving passengers are standing on the runway after arriving at the airport in LA, they are shown looking around and there is a shot where Brian turns his head to the left slightly. The shot then cuts to Laurel, and Brian is suddenly looking slightly to the right. (02:52:30)

Casual Person

Visible crew/equipment: At the end of the movie, when the people stand against the wall as they return back to normal time, you can see tape markers on the floor, as they stand by the wall. (02:55:15)

Hamster

Revealing mistake: Near the end, as they approach LAX, the woman says there is nobody on the ground, that it's just the same as Bangor, but actually you can see a few cars moving on the ground.

Continuity mistake: When they take off from Bangor you see the landing gear retract, but in the next shot it's back down again.

Revealing mistake: Just before they land at Bangor airport we have two or three shots behind the pilot. I am not a hair dresser but I believe that you can see the difference between the real pilot's hair and the actor's.

Continuity mistake: The position of the plane on the runway and the distance it is from the terminal often changes, when Dinah looks at it through the glass, as Toomey runs around from the Langoliers, etc.

Hamster

Continuity mistake: When Nick checks on Albert after he knocks out Craig, during a close-up of Albert you can see that he reaches his hand up to his face. In the very next shot his hand's on his lap again.

Visible crew/equipment: In the scene where Albert hits mr Toomey, he falls to the ground out cold. If you look at the glass door to the right of Albert as he looks at mr Toomey on the floor you can see the reflection of a baggage car go past the door.

Factual error: After taking off from Bangor, the pilot pulls back on the flight control bringing the plane up to level flight. However, after taking off, a plane is "nose up" and would require pushing forward on the controls to bring the nose down to level. This is also evident by looking at the attitude indicator (circle with top half blue and bottom half brown). The white line indicates the horizon and you can watch the indicator show the plane's attitude coming from below horizon (nose down) to the horizon (level flight).

Factual error: When the airplane lands at LAX, the pilot indicates being out of fuel and is nearly unable to stop the airplane. However, the particular gate (54) where the airplane ends up at LAX would require a minimum of four stops and turns before getting there. Ending up at that particular point would not have been possible without power to taxi.

Craig Toomy: Oh I'm real scared now.

Trivia: In the scene near the end of the movie, there is a board meeting on the tarmac. The Chairman of the Board is Stephen King who is the author of The Langoliers. (02:10:15)

Question: After Brian and the others escape the Bangor airport and are on their way back to LA, before they get to the time rip, Brian says to Nick that he wanted kids and she didn't and he did "something that he never thought he'd do" and that he always wanted to tell her sorry. What was that thing he did that was so bad, there is no mention of what he did unless he is talking about the divorce. Could someone please clarify this?

Answer: In the book he slaps her across the face during a heated argument. I can only assume that is what he is talking about.
